Haven't there been people getting upset about missing that silly "engine cover" on these cars in STX before? What seems small, may not be worth the headache if someone cares to go to 'big' events.

I haven't heard that.

Plus it is legal to remove a plastic engine cover if it only serves cosmetic or acoustic purposes.

SCCA Rule Book 14.10 (I)

Quote:
I. Upper engine shields made of plastic material, the purpose of which
is to hide mechanical components in the engine compartment, may be
removed if they have a solely aesthetic and/or acoustic function.
In ST though, not Street. Emblems may also be removed now in ST, which was a historical boogeyman issue.

For trunk foam it depends, rule states in Street, which then carries over to ST that....

Quote:
F. Spare tires, tools, and jacks may be removed. Any fastening hardware and/or other pieces that can no longer be fi rmly secured in the absence of the spare tire may be removed if necessary to ensure compliance with
so if its not bolted or clipped to the car without the tire it can be removed, if it is it needs to stay. So on the BRZ for example the stuff on the sides needs to stay, but the big foam ring the sits in the middle of the spare can go.

is anyone running one of the nameless mufflers with the stock midpipe? Curious on sound/noise on the STX cars. I heard one of their smaller one last weekend and it wasn't bad, but the car was still on stock header.

Do you know which version?

The single exit or the ultra quiet?

I’ve got the single exit ultra quiet track pipe with header and stock midpipe and I’m pretty happy with it. I didn’t like it at first but turns out it was mostly header rub lol.

https://shop.namelessperformance.com...et-track-pipe/

I actually had the dual exit with the 5” mufflers and I hated it, bad resonance at cruising rpm with a header, it was used so maybe it was blown out but I sold it after a few months.

There was a SSC car with this at a recent event and it was surprisingly quiet and wasn't terrible sounding.

SSC keeps the catalytic converters in the car. They don’t sound bad with minimal mufflers and cats, pulling one cat out for ST* is a big leap in noise, basically removing the cats or the mufflers doubles the noise, removing both quadruples it. Probably won’t blow sound at most scca events with headers + minimal/no mufflers and oe midpipe (between 95-100db depending on the site/region) but I know I don’t like cars that loud.

Hell I’d keep the stock mufflers if my jack could fit under it, but fitting the jack and dropping 15# is worth it most of the time.

I have the ultra quiet track pipe too with catless header and 3” catted FP. People are surprised how tame it is.
