My car doesn't but oil, but getting an accurate reading from the dipstick is a PITA compared to my other cars.

I find it no different than any other car I have ever had. I have always scored the dipstick horizontally with a piece of sandpaper though so maybe all my other cars sucked and I just didn't know.

I've heard of people doing this, maybe I will try it out.

My MINI used half a quart after driving the twisties for half a day. My BRZ has used none at all.

I don't have any oil consumption after 30k on the odo, and I track it regularly and otherwise beat the piss out of it.

I always overfill my car by half a quart since i got oil cooler.......O.o......

So it's always quite a bit higher then the 2nd dot...

I think it's causing a bit of oil leak from having too much oil thou? @Tcoat

Adding a cooler does not change where the full mark should be. Unless somehow you cooler is mounted high and drains back into the sump.

You should always check your oil when hot. When your oil is hot the thermostat will be open on your sandwich plate which means everything is filled with oil.
