Electronic blind spot indicator - mirrors

So - I have rented a car while my BRZ is being tuned.

Hertz had a Buick Verano available so I grabbed it.

Not my cup of tea in an auto, however - I LOVE the mirror indicator for the blind spot.

On the outside of the mirror glass, there is a little orange indicator that lights up when someone is in your blindspot(s). It worked perfectly.

Has anyone tried adding this to their twin?

I know about convex mirrors - I am interested in this setup. I know there is no substitute for looking - however - even after looking around this extra little check is pretty awesome.

Do those need sensors somewhere installed? Not sure how those works and I've never been in a car with one but I find it the BRZ doesn't have blindspots in the mirrors, once a car is out of the sight of my mirror I could already see them on the side. I still check blindspots anyways in case a car on the other lane is trying to change into the same lane I'm changing into, those annoy me as I've had a close call when someone decided to change lanes quickly without signaling when I was already halfway through the lane change.

Adjust your mirrors properly and you won't need them.

From your driving position you shouldn't be able to see the sides of the car.
Lean your head left until it touches the window. Turn the left mirror out until you can barely see the side of the car.
Lean your head right until it's at about the middle of the vehicle. Turn the right mirror out until you can just barely see the side of the car.
Make minor adjustments as necessary.

Now when a vehicle leaves the edge of your rearview mirror, you're picking it up in your side mirror. And when it leaves the side mirror, you can see it with a cursory head check. If there's a car on your back corner, it will be squarely in your side mirror.

You guys beat me to the whole adjusting your mirrors correctly

Sadly, it seems it's not the norm, and because of this some cars from the factory won't adjust out that far.

Hell no! The only reason I picked it up was because my BRZ is getting an AVO and a tune right now and I wanted something really lame so that the experience of getting back in the BRZ later this week is amplified.

PS - I found some Toyota parts to accomplish this task so I might mess with this later.

I have already configured my mirrors in that fashion.

I started this thread to talk about electronic blind spot indicators and the tech behind it. If I wanted to talk to people about mirror adjustments, I would have made a thread called "How do I adjust my mirrors" - alas - the title is "Electronic Blind Spot Indicators - mirrors" So, my bad for putting mirrors in the title and confusing people. I meant it as the location for the indicator.

This looks like a possibility. Gosher's - http://www.goshers.com/blind-spot-de...ds3016-10.html

Here is some installer showing it off
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6joY5uMIA9k"]Goshers Blind Spot Detection System 2012 Toyota Prius - YouTube[/ame]

My problem is that I would have a hard time looking at those little circles cut into the vehicle. Even if it was paint matched.

I guess you can get away with just the rear sensors. They sell it in that config.

I would be more apt to opt for a side skirt solution if I wanted to do this.

Even adjusting the stock mirror properly and using a blind spot indicator are no match for these:

The one single thing I miss from driving German cars, I can change lanes on the driver side so fucking fast with no need to shoulder check.

Blind spot indicator? Cuz Volvo!

What's that off of? That slays for visibility. I do not like the stock mirrors and Rexspeed seems to be the goto - however - that mirror makes it look silly.
