Lil interesting fact. Toyota wanted to make vert 86. They were planning to make it at Magna Steyr aka same factory as current Supra. It was very close to happen, but right before actually happened... something happened & it was axed. What happened? Maybe Subaru didn’t like that idea? Maybe Magna Steyr build cost wasn’t the price Toyota wanted? Who knows. Only thing I know is, somewhere along the line, someone fucked up or greed got in the way for vert 86 to actually happen.

Like I said earlier, there was a lot of rumors (confirmed by some pretty high up sources) it was designed for that from the beginning. I actually thought the concept was a pretty good looking car.
and it was floating all around as a 2016 model. I also believe they showed a red one at the Tokyo auto show around that time. https://www.automobilemag.com/news/r...sedan-in-2016/

I was emailing around this friday/today with dealers and I got lots of differing answers from sales people. From "We can have what you want in 8 weeks from Japan" to "Orders are suspended through this model year, I can't get any more cars". Not unusual from sales people - either mis-informed or saying what they think will benefit them the most. Anyone know the actual situation? |

It has a distinct Subaru influence in the styling. Taillights probably similar on the next WRX. I like that they sneaked in the WRX front fender aero. Time to tip your hats to BOTH Subaru and Toyota with the little reminders/easter eggs.
I'm gonna put my stamp on it (lol) and say it's almost a go. All they need is confidence that 20k units/or could be sold. Otherwise, save up your sheckles for a Supra if you want to stay in the Toyota sports car game. I'd actually jump on a 2021 3.0, if circumstances were slightly different. Nissan? Blechhh. Maybe if the GTR mechanicals were put into a body styled not not to look like a Transformer or something unworldly. It's just to BIG a car for me, the element of staying in control vs catastrophic situation isnt for me.

i still think those are not extremely accurate renders. in checking toyota and subaru's current 2019 lineup interior shots, the tablet-bolted-to-the-dash look isn't something that either brand has really picked up on, so to design this car with it, would be a wild departure from the status quo for both brands.
which is a good thing, as i hate that look.
