- Cost - Base BRZ cost more than base WRX (BRZ:$28k vs WRX:$27k). Only thing that keeping them separate is NA/FI & Drivetrain. Hell, making it into 260hp, only thing that make BRZ and WRX is drivetrain and a lot of buyer don't are too much about that (some do), but biggest thing is they're literally killing WRX AND Supra 2.0 sale. Supra 2.0 pretty much make same amount (255hp/295tq). They wanna do that? Don't think so.
- Weight - Thing I don't get is, why aren't fan bois not getting this part. FA24 might give a bit more bump... but expect well over weight bump as well. Not only due to the engine, but also required safety is different 10yrs ago. Even they keeping current engine, we're expecting minimum of 100lbs weight gain. From there add more rigidity, expected curb weight is 3,100~3,300lbs. It's a fucking fatass!
- Comparison - I've already compared WRX & Supra, so not gonna go into that, but look at other you've mentioned plus others. They have better bang for buck specs on the paper.

There are other shit happening behind the scene... but lets not go there.
It would also be the classic car enthusiast thing if this DOES happen, and everyone who wants one will buy it used and then cry about it being cancelled after a couple years, or switching to AT only.

Cheap compared to the big name sports cars maybe but not cheap compared to the average.

I happened to have looked up the 1985 MR2 out of curiousity.

Average car in 1985 was $11,496.
Base MR2 was $10,999 but there really were no "base models" sold at least in the US. They were closer to $12,000.

Had a pair of F-15's flyover earlier. Was going to try to grab a picture but realized it would be pointless.

Well now, in 1970, I found that a new MGB-GT was "affordable" and in 2006, I found a new Miata "affordable".

Plus, The Internet says that Miata's are affordable - so there!

Well you were rich!

I really shouldn't have said there were no "affordable" ones but more like they are just as affordable now as back then. If you adjust for inflation that affordable 1990 Miata costs about $1,000 less than one today. For that $1,000 more for the newest you get a whole pile more car.
Sure the lower prices look great but the wages were at about the same level so in the long run it is a wash.
Great to sit here and say "Oh those cars were half what they cost now" when the average income was only 40% of what it is now. You know what I mean better than many.
