I know that's not anything in the way of special with how some people do these cars. Just wanted to share with a fellow new owner

My post wasn't in reference to yours.

I posted it because this thread has gone so far off topic.

Could be worse. Could be yet another list of "Well what I would do..."

WELCOME, there, @Glight ......

You have sure done a lot of nice things to your car in a short period of time ....

I suggest you try to be a bit less defensive about your posts. Usually, if a poster is trying to say something directly to you they will quote you.

For example, some signs of disapproval from some of the regulars are like so:

@Tcoat - will start a 3 page debate

@Ultramaroon - will just go sheeeesh

@Scrappydoo - will post something unintelligible

and humfrz will give you a .........

Got it ..??

Missed your question, sorry about that. The tires may be like new, but they're far from great if we're talking about the original equipment, especially for the money. Michelin Primacy HPs are a Grand Touring Summer tire, meaning you get some grip, but they're intended to last a long time, and the latter is where the time and money went. They're also not intended to be used in any sort of cold or freezing temps, so winter tires are a must if you have to drive in non-summer weather like I do. If not, then just ignore that aspect. Anyway, grip and longevity are almost always opposed to each other, so you're always compromising one for the other, and more grip means your tires will need to be replaced more often. If you're ok with that, there's an epic ton of choices for you. If the car is not daily driven then they'll last you longer and it comes down to not exceeding their lifespan in years regardless of miles. 5-6 years is the most you can reasonably expect from a tire.

Michelin Pilot Sports are pretty much a go-to for a good summer tire, and something I'm considering myself once I've obliterated the Primacy set. They're on their way out of the market and being replaced by the next evolution of the tire, the Pilot Sport 4S. They may not be quite up to snuff for long periods of track duty if that's a thing you're considering, but that depends on how much you plan to do. If you'd just like a grippier tire for the road, you can't go wrong with them. Since the Pilot Sport is on its way out, you'll probably be seeing deals out there as suppliers try to unload them and make room for the PS4S.

As someone who had a few cosmetic dislikes about the stock look of the FR-S but never wanted to put any money on the aesthetics* I will tell you this. Find what you like and dislike about the car. If you love the way it drives but hate the stock <insert cosmetic here>. Then don't go adding a supercharger or turbo. That will alter what you love about the car.

For example, first thing I did was buy the car with the stock exhaust. I wanted a deeper growl than the stock, however I felt that the TRD was not quite what I wanted. I shopped around until I found what I wanted. (Took me 2 years, but I kept bouncing between 2-3 choices). Now I also hated the idea of using my stock rims as winter and summer tires, so I got new summer wheels and tires (I'm quite indifferent to the stock wheels).

Everything else that I have done have been things I grew to wish were different after having driven it or got bored of the look. For now I'm satisfied with how it is, so I won't change anything. I like the current power, it's very fun to me even with "it's lack of power".

I've driven more powerful cars that feel more subdued and everyone tells me I should have more fun with those because they've got more power, but they just feel lifeless to me... To me the FR-S gives you the feeling you have power and that you're going fast even when you're not. I'd rather have that than have all the power in the world and feel like you're in a school zone driving 130km/h on the highway.

That's what I want in a car, the feeling that something is going on. If you're cruising on the highway in your Benz at 140 and you're completely isolated from the outside world, that's boring to me. I don't see my car as a way to get from point A to point B. Ideally I want my daily commute to be an adventure....

I realized I was different when I drove down to Fort Ticonderoga and told people the roads were amazing and people asked me if the scenery was nice. "I don't know, I just remember having a banana grin for an hour straight going taking the corners at high speed!". The looks the give me when I didn't even look at the scenery, especially when I tell them I decided to drive in the opposite way and back to my motel because of how much fun I had. Some people just don't understand how fun driving can be.
