HKS tune working in Europe on JDM BRZ?

Hi guys,

I moved back to Sweden from Tokyo in 2021 and brought my track car with me; a 2013 Subaru BRZ. At the time the car had some mods including HKS headers, HKS Hi-Power SPEC-L II exhaust, HKS Fire Racing plugs, and a HKS ECU tune. I drove the car quite extensively on the circuit last year with no problems.

This year I just installed the HKS SuperCharger GT2 kit and used the HKS Flash Tool to install the corresponding ECU tune.

However, I'm now getting really nervous that it won't work well with the Swedish fuel after installing the supercharger. We have 95 and 98 octane fuel in Sweden, the 95 octane has a 10% ethanol mix and the 98 octane has a 5% ethanol mix (for green house gas emission reduction reasons).

I will of course only run the 98 octane fuel, but how compatible is that with the Japanese "premium" fuel that I assume the tune is configured for? Will I run into knocking problems and potentially damage my engine?

Would love some feedback from someone who knows more about this.

Thanks,

Jonas

can t you look at vital parameters like adcabce multiplier abd knock corection and ap fine correction?
hks tunes are rich and a bit conservative you should be ok with 98ron
but never put 95

Well, how do I look at those? Sorry for being new to this. Any software you can guide me to?

Good to hear that 98 should be OK! Thanks! 🙏

well here almost nobody have an hks flasher, those tune files also are not editable

But maybe if you connect it to the obd2 in your car, there is a section where you can see live data of the ecu while driving

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have that functionality. Thanks anyway.
