Thanks for all the suggestions. I had the dealership do the inspection because I was hoping to get Subaru to cover the cost. The car is apart and parked outside now covered with snow and ice. (First time in 5 ½ years.) It doesn’t make any sense for me to pay to have the car towed someplace else and start over.
The new fuel rail is supposed to be at the dealership on March 1st. We’ll see if it shows up and if they can finish the job before they close for the weekend.
I am very disappointed that Subaru has turned down the request for after warranty assistance. However, I’ll continue to fight for them to cover at least some of the costs.

Be nice and use some good words like ”I have lost faith in the Subaru brand”.

did you go through the Dealer? Go straight to Subaru. Different industry but I get told no all the time. Then the customer complains straight to the manufacturer and all of a sudden it’s a yes.

umm ya that's nuts. I've pulled the top off a couple of these engines when doing swaps and never replaced anything but the injector o-rings (because they came with my new injectors).

based on the hard parts they quoted, they just threw the kitchen sink at all of the possible parts it could be so they're covered. if they replace it all, they can't leak and customer cant some back and say "I paid and still broke. y u no fix first time?"

So the parts came in, they fixed the car and I paid the whole bill!
Now, March 12, I receive this short email:

Hello Mr.********,

Thank you for contacting Subaru Canada.

We apologize for the longer than usual wait times we are still looking into your request.

Best Regards.
Jocelyne | Customer Care

WTF? Is this from my first email or my second? I’ll give ‘em until next Monday and then I’m bringing out the big guns!

Reminds me of why I stopped dealing with this service department. I had a problem with the power steering o my 2006 STi. I was told they had to replace the entire pump. There are no rebuild kits. The price with install was damn near a grand! However, if I traded in my old pump I could get a remanufactured one for around $700 all in. I took the car to another shop started by a Subaru mechanic who had left this very shop. He said it was a leaking seal. He checked his tool box and found the exact right size “O” ring and within 20 minutes everything was working fine.
Best part, NO CHARGE! He did my suspension and alignments and every other major item on that and my other cars. Too bad he stopped dealing with the public and went into strictly building comp cars.
