I've had it ingrained in my head since I was a small child (Probably around the same time humfrz last got a compliment from the mrs on his car hobby, on accident, 20-odd years ago)

I was under the impression that jump starting was real easy.. red to red, black to black, start one car and run a few minutes and then start the other... Fingers crossed both run.. and if the "non-starter" is still a non-starter then something has fucked up.. and if both end up as non-starters and there is whiff of burning smell, well that just tells you that someone helping out is colourblind..
