Mid-80s means C4, which was a MUCH cleaner design than the C7 is. In comparison, the C7 is LITTERED with spurious hard lines and vents all over the place. |

I love my ZR-1, but the new Z is pure sex to me... But, C4 you say??? The best looking C4 of all, the '90 ZR-1, IMO--but then I'm partial (going on my 20th year of ownership w/ this bad boy).

*shrug* The C5 was such an improvement looks-wise over the C4 IMO. C4 looks dated, C5 looks...nostalgic.
I personally am a late 60s, early 70s C3 fan. |

To me, the C6 Z06 finally nailed the looks:
The C7 is too busy looking for me, although much improved as a driver's car from what I hear.

I'm still waiting till the horsepower wars get to the point where the ZR1 comes with a 7.0L + Twin Turbo, lol.

They've said there is no immediate plans for the ZR1. I think the new Z06 has overtaken it. I'd like to see the Grand Sport return between the Z51 and the Z06.

Until Ford comes out with an even faster Cobra (Shelby GT300 this time?) and Dodge releases an even faster Viper.

Sat in my first set of comp seats in a C7 the other day.. not the best (Fiesta ST Recaros are better IMO) but many worlds better than old Vette seats. The standard C7 seats are just adequate. Still better than older Vettes though. All of those hard lines and vents probably are there for a reason. Ugly on some colors though.

,True--they don't want to steal the Z06s thunder--since it won''t be out for a year or so to begin with! If they confirmed a ZR1, many would wait & not buy the Z06--marketing 101! lol
They are beta-testing a TT powerplant version in plain site (but NOT open hood!) from my understanding, that will be the ZR1, L88, or whatever, when they need to add another version to bolster more excitement. Although they shut the car off immediately if anyone starts coming around the beta cars. Probably be a '17 or '18 model year. I am thinking the C6 Z06 w/ the last of the big-engine (for real this time, unlike the early 70s, when we'd never think we'd see them again) 7 liters, may be an almost certain classic for those of us who are interested in that kind of thing. 30 years from now---they will certainly be sought after by the Vette collector faithful. |

In the C7 line I personally think the Z51 LT2 with Comp seats would be my choice. I just don't need (or want) the power of the Z06 although some of the other bits are nice.
The last ZR1 I'd buy would be the one George owns. No interest in the C6 ZR1.

Yeah that's a fair counterpoint, although the F12 weighs 4003 lbs and only makes 730 hp. That would be 5.48 lbs/hp.
The C7 Z06 is expected to be even more potent at ~3300 lbs and 620 hp, or 5.32 lbs/hp. I think weight distribution comes into play too. F12: 47/53 weight distribution, 2122 lbs over the rear wheels Z06: 49/51 weight distribution, 1683 lbs over the rear wheels So not only does the Z06 have a better power-to-weight ratio, but it has less weight over the rear wheels. But it is a good point to bring up the F12 because I haven't seen any reviews mentioning an inability to put power to the ground.

I'm not a corvette fan, but they keep stepping up the game exponentially each new model as of late. I would LOVE to own one of these AT or MT if I could afford.

They are great machines. I prefer Japanese tuning and inline six engines with turbos the size of beach balls, but you cannot deny this animal.
