Monogram series headlights on a FRS
Hello everybody. I am in the process of purchasing some used frs headlights. They are the xenon monogram headlights with LED DRL strip. I just had a couple questions about these that I couldn't really find. I have seen things mentioned about adapters needed to run these? However shouldn't they be completely plug n play if they are from another FRS to put on my 2013 FRS? Will they wire right up like the 2013 OEM ones do? And do the LED DRLs light up with the low beams like the JDM ones do? Thanks in advance guys!

The LED DRLs do not stay on with the low beams. You have to mod the harness to do that. Diode Dynamics sells a plug and play harness to enable that functionality though (which I have one coming on Saturday.)

No plug and play if I am not mistaken...must be wired independently and you have to do a resistor mod in order for DRL to work with headlights. You can purchase the DRL mod through Diode Dynamics(adjustable lighting) or Beatsonic(non-adjustable lighting).

I can't help with your questions; however, I will say THANK YOU! Thank you taking strides for not being one of the @$$HOLES that run HIDs in halogen headlamps blinding everyone around them. You sir, are a pure modder!

So not plug n play even if I didn't have the LED DRL's on with the low beams? As I see I'll need an extra harness to have the DRL's on at all times.

In order to get the headlights to work you have to get them wired independently as the harness for the base frs is different than (6 PIN?) the Monogram/10series/rs.10 (8 PIN?). Once you get the headlight to function correctly then you can worry about the DRL mod.

I just did the RS1 headlamps. They are 8 Pins....
Its way easier than the writeup DIY 1.) De-Pin the RS1 headlamps 2.) De-Pin the Black plastic Housing from the "Halogen Harness" 3.) Match High beam with LEDs.... Match Low beam with HID... 4.) Use the 2 extra "plugged" "dead holes" with the remaining unused wires. You should have 8 wires in all 8 pin holes. I did not unplug the resistor thing as on some writeups say. The GarageFRS writeup mentioned nothing about it. Ive had the resistor plugged in for a month and all works perfect. |

...but most people do this wrong because the US Spec only have a wire running to the "Hi-Watt" side of the LED assembly. If you connect it as it is then the daytime LED's are actually to bright at night and are blinding to oncoming traffic I fixed this by adding back the "Low-Watt" lead. You can also look into intergrading the new Diode Dynamics always on module into your mod...
