Regardless of when production ceases, and regardless of how many are bought, the number of these on the road will probably decrease as new young drivers, over confident drivers and ridiculously huge lifted trucks/suv keep flooding the roads. The car is little, I've almost been crushed dozens of times since I got my BRZ in December. The dmv written and driving test have become a joke and apparently people are not aware of road sign warnings or how to approach these "stressful and uncomfortable" driving situations. Because the cars are still pretty uncommon, for every new FRS/BRZ sold, two bite the dust. I imagine even a moderate accident, which may not total your standard sedan on the road but more than likely will total out these. Most people may not find themselves wanting to replace with another brz/frs, they would head to, yes, the Mustangs, corvettes, lexus, and maybe straight to Subaru WRX sti etc. Especially after upgrading their brz frs to their liking etc, to have to start over because there is a possibility that the once optional packages may not exist or the base models in the future may all be AWD, A/T, etc and completely unappealing to those who drove the original. Put a Jackson Racing Supercharger into my 2013, and I preferred that there was no dealer package for increased power via turbo or whatever else they could have tried right out of the gate. I like knowing that my BRZ is stealthy and, right now in my area, very unexpected. I would start another brz over if I had to, but I won't be interested in any upcoming production models, and would rather struggle to get the parts, support and general maintenance with current models because the possible future twice will undoubtedly evolve into versions incompatible with previous generations. Betting it will get bigger, actually holding 4 non-parapalegic passengers and maybe even offering 4dr should the market sway the options.
Sorry , my point seems undefined after trying to type this while my 4yr old attempts to discourage me. '16 last year, anything after would be like 3rd Gen Integras becoming RSXs which was a big change. But only time will tell lol

Most of what you said makes sense but this is a little extreme and I am sure it is also totally unsupportable.
Yes they may get in more accidents then some but if this would be the case all of our insurance rates would be quadrupled by now.

Maybe he meant in 50 years 1/3 will have survived worth saving, which may be true looking at sports cars that were affordable over the past 50 years... There's a reason most clean '85 Corollas fetch >$8k (it's original purchase price) nowadays...

Ford did it with the mustang. Imagine, having the first production model of a new series of cars (64 mustang). If you have a 2013 frs and the year is 2050, you have the first generation of this 86car.

My brain is all jumbled up because i'm at work, but I believe/ hope you get my point.

Dicontinued car = more rare (Ford Edsel) = harder to find parts = more expensive parts = oem parts become scarce = aftermarket parts become more abundant = no original = not worth as much.

too many variables.

That is just never going to happen at Toyota. The only truly perminate model is the Land Cruiser.

OK, I usually have a strong personal no grammar/spelling natzi policy ( I screw up too much to critique) but this one is just toooo good to pass up.

Pretty sure no company wants a "perminate" car!

From Urban Dictionary:
perminate
a smell that is so stinkey that it perminates through the air!
some one took a shit in the toilet and the smell was so bad it was perminating through the air!!!!!!!

the house smelled like shit so bad it was perminate!

shit perminated for ever after cameran diaze came out of the bathroom!

I am pretty sure they would much prefer a permanent model line.

Haha, I just asked myself what that word meant exactly, but did not search for its definition. So I copy-pasted.

Thanks for giving the definition.

You would think looking in foresight that autocorrect would aid the spelling of a society..... Every misspelled word corrects itself! Everyone will always be corrected and know how to spell thingz next time!

quite the opposite has happened. I spell like a downy since college because of autocorrect..
