Stuck throttle? Fuuuuck me. Enough said.

Smelling hot brakes? In traffic? Get off of the damn road!

It's easy to point fingers here because it's all true. No hypocrisy coming from me.

I'll do you one better. In the spirit of the term, it is criminally negligent to knowingly operate it like that. It's like waving a cocked pistol at a crowd.

I know he "said" this, but I'm not buying he really spent all that money to build an engine he just intended to "cruise" with. Even if he intended to do that there is no excuse for driving it with the problems it obviously had. The host and film crew should also have shut it down once it started having problems.

Had an interesting experience yesterday. Went to my son and daughter-in-law's baby shower (baby due in January). One of the party goers was also about 8 months pregnant and ended up with a flat tire on her jeep. Fortunately, there were plenty of guys to come to her rescue.

The younger bucks (a couple of whom were mechanics) started to change her tire. Fortunately she has a full size spare.

Problem number one. She had no jack because she had removed it for some reason or another a couple of months before. No problem, there were 10 different vehicles there so we pulled one out of a Suburban that would extend enough to lift the Jeep.

Problem Number two. Her lug wrench did not fit her lug nuts because her husband (who was out of town) had installed custom wheels on the Jeep. No other car there had anything that would fit because the walls were too thick on all of them to fit the lugs. Problem was solved by one guy running down to his Parent's house about two blocks away and getting a universal (4 way) lug wrench that did the job.

So far we are about 45 minutes into what should have been a 15-minute job.

Finally, we get the spare on, the old tire remounted on the back. Then, for fun we decided to see what it was that had caused the flat. All we could see was what looked like a 3/8 inch bolt of some sort sticking out but had been worn flat. My money was on a gutter spike based on the size.

After another 30 minutes or so of pulling/pushing/cutting and using everything from channel locks to needle nose pliers to screwdrivers and a utility knife, we managed to pull out a 4" long clip-on lead balance weight, including the clip. Except for the part we had mangled trying to remove it, it looked perfectly intact.

The tires on the Jeep were some serious off-road tires, and this was stuck perfectly center of the tire between the treads. That is the oddest thing I've seen pulled out of a tire.

it was a rear tire, the passenger side?

my brother had a customer that had a fully functional 12" adjustable wrench blow through the tire and wheel. it entered rounded/dull side first.

at speed, front tires lift debris at an appropriate angle, and spikes it into the rear tire. no tire has a chance.

my brother got a free adjustable wrench though.

i keep a folding 4-cross in all my vehicles. too many oem wrenches are horrible designs that just lead to frustration.

anyone else not very impressed with the sales this year?

most places seem to be offering 10% off, which is nice, but nowhere near running companies into the 'black'.

It was for my soon-to-be grandson, and I was basically the driver (son and family live 5 hours away). The guys at the shower stood in the kitchen near the food for two hours talking cars and sports before proceeding to the yard for some mechanical bonding.
