Here is the wear on my front tires after ~90 runs (50 of which were with -2.2 and 40 runs with -3.6 front camber). This is with less than 800 street miles.

Nexen N Fera SUR4G 225/45/17

Is that 90 runs with or without swapping the insides out?

These are without flipping the tires.

That looks almost like my CS tire wear. (-1.5 camber)

Not to re-drail OP's post, but I am interested in getting a BRZ. I haven't decided on 17+ or < 17, but I think the SSC is really calling to me.

However, and more on-topic, the Nexens still wore the shoulder with -3.3? What FSB and springs? Seems really weird to me, unless the car was very lightly sprung.

Thanks for accepting slight digression.

Can't wait to see the build/thread!

The choice between a '13-'16 vs '17 depends on what you want to do with the car. '17 only works with STX IMO, but even then I'd choose pre '17.

Nexens wore with 50 runs on -2.2 and 40 runs -3.6 (front camber). The car has full SSC mods - Eibach springs, Eibach FSB/RSB, Konis, and SPC Front camber bolts / Rear LCA. I got a lot of push with -2.2.

Just a dumb question -- any reason to not go RE-71R?

Also, why would you choose a pre-17?

Thanks for the feedback!

The spec tire for SSC hasn't been announced. I just took a guess/gamble with the Nexens. I'd love to use REs but it's highly unlikely that SCCA would chose the tire due to cost. Hopefully they won't pick a tire that's slower than the Nexens.

I just don't like the shorter 2nd gear of the '17+ for autox.

Ah, thanks. Also, 17+ isn't SSC classed, for obvious reasons. I wonder if cosmetic update/backdate would be allowed? One can dream

Did your camber bolts hold well? I have not been a fan of using those in the past.

Sorry, just so I am clear, this is the difference you are referencing, right?

Meaning, my perspective in buying 295/30/18s (different car), this is cheap, either way, and they last longer.

Nexen

RE71R

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions!

EDIT:

I think I had the wrong compound:

Yeah, that is a difference.

The front camber is rock solid. However, the rear SPC LCA doesn't hold camber very well.

SEB (SCCA) is focused on keeping the cost low for SSC. While the price difference for a set isn't much, thought it was a lot more, they are looking at a cost effective overall package.

Of course. Sorry. I just chose a max tire size and used it as a constant for price comparison. My bad.

2/15/18 -- 34,282 miles

Swapped over to the Facken Azenis tires (spec tire). I'm glad that there is more tire-to-strut clearance with these tires vs the Nexens.
