Fuel Prices - Jan 2016

Normally don't pay much attention to the prices but last night when filling up I did.

US (Average)
Per litre prices
Regular : 63円 / $0.53 / £0.37
Premium : 77円 / $0.66 / £0.46
Diesel : 72円 / $0.61 / £0.43

Per gallon prices
Regular : 239円 / $2.03 / £1.42
Premium : 295円 / $2.50 / £1.75
Diesel : 275円 / $2.33 / £1.63

Japan (Average)
Per litre prices
Regular : 101円 / $0.85 / £0.60
Premium : 112円 / $0.95 / £0.66
Diesel : 85円 / $0.72 / £0.50

Per gallon prices
Regular : 382円 / $3.21 / £2.27
Premium : 423円 / $3.59 / £2.49
Diesel : 321円 / $2.72 / £1.89

UK (Average)
Per litre prices
Regular : 171円 / $1.45 / £1.02
Premium : 188円 / $1.59 / £1.12
Diesel : 171円 / $1.45 / £1.02

Per gallon prices
Regular : 647円 / $5.48 / £3.86
Premium : 711円 / $6.01 / £4.23
Diesel : 647円 / $5.48 / £3.86

What's funny is I was back in the UK over xmas and everyone was talking about how cheap fuel had gotten.. (nope, we still get shafted in the UK!)

Here's a snap of the fuel prices last night when topping up.

CA Prices here:

Regular: 2.79
Midgrade: 2.89
Premium: 2.99

And they are saying we have a surplus of gas...

How's petrol price in Ireland? I'll be there for 2 weeks or so in May.

Unleaded in irelands averaging 1.25 euros per litre, which is about $1.35 / litre and $5.11 per gallon, so roughly twice the price of your current location.
For premium (Sold there as super-unleaded), it's averaging $1.59 / litre, or $6.01 per gallon, so over 2x as much.

2.29 regular and 2.49 premium here in Castro Valley, at least at the cheapest stations. Seems expensive when oil is almost free. I've got some gas cans to fill up for emergency use. I should get on it.

I'm paying $1.79/gal and Connecticut is expensive for the US the South way cheaper because of lower taxes and distance to where is refined.

Its hovering around 70-75 cents CAD/Litre for 87 octane here in Calgary at the moment. It's nice to get a bit of savings as I drive a lot. Probably not going to take any trips outside of Canada this year due to the weak Loonie but road trips around Western Canada should be cheaper if fuel stays around this price.

In my Owner's Journal I've been tracking my fuel spend in my OP and occasionally post up a chart showing fuel cost trends based on my spend. This is the most recent below. Since 90% of my fuel is purchased from the same station it's pretty representative of the trend in the Atlanta Metro area.

There are huge over supplies, here in the United States we are nearly at 'top tanks' which means we won't even be able to store anymore. Unless we built more storage but that would be kind of silly at these prices. If we hit top tanks expect a further crash to under $20/barrel. Don't forget too even $35/barrel should be $1 pump gas not $2 so we haven't even caught up to where we are if that makes sense. I'm doing my part though I drive my 74 Lincoln Mark IV on my days off in the warmer months.

Speaking of the 70s though we are sitting on more reserves here in the states than we have had since 1972! Except this time people are still buying more efficient cars instead of just the biggest possible thing they can find. For now...

Seeing around $1.59/ gal for regular here in the Cleveland area (don't ask about premium, they all price gouge as much as $2.49/ gal near the city. In the suburbs its averaging around $1.65/gal regular and $2.20/ gal premium. Goddamn price gougers.
