I was curious about this same thing.

Probably not a good idea, but I thought if you got an upholstery pen in black and just carefully went over the stitching you could change it to black. I can't bring myself to do this on my a brand new 2014 car though.

I personally hate the red stitching/accents with a passion and can't wait until I find an alternative.

Dead thread, but I'm restitching mine to be full purple on the interior.

Everything has been DIY up to this point.

I finished the shifter, e-brake, door panels and arm rest.

All that's left with red stitching is the seats and the wheel (which I'm doing now.)

Cool! Purple! Post a few pics!

I didn't like the red stitch, so I dyed mine black where I could and replaced it with black stitch in other spots.

Did you just use a sharpie? Got pics? I'm thinking of trying this.

I've been changing out the stitch on all my interior, minus the seats which I plan on replacing with Katzkin. Thread ripper, two round point needles, nylon thread, glue and patience is all you need. Only have two panels to go.

I used a spray can of vinyl dye. I removed the door panels. Taped off everything but the stitching with good painters tape. sprayed a few coats. It has worn after 5 years on one spot on the door where it is showing a bit of red. For costing $8 and one afternoon, I am happy with how it has held up. Also, it looks good. I'll update this in a minute with a photo.

There's a full interior re-stich on the board someplace. Guy just pulled out the red and stitched through the holes a different color. It's here, need to search for it.

looking to make all the silver stitching in the 86 black. any success stories? particularly if the dye has not faded since applying?
stained by sharpie or fabricmate seem to be good marker choices. any other recommendations?
