You misread. That is his "plan".
He was being facetious.

Poking fun at the threads by overzealous high schoolers who haven't purchased a cabin air filter, let alone worked on an engine who say "review my build plan".

Might get crazy and purchase the rite of passage for a 3rd owner '13 twin... /s

Assuming the first couple of sentences are NOT facetious: If “generically modified” = “tastefully modified”, what’s the rationale for reversion? If I was shopping for a BRZ and came across one tastefully modded with good parts, reverting only to spend the money again doesn’t seem sensible to me.

What specific parts are on it?

If you just want a bog stock car because OEM or the whole post was a gag, ignore my comment.

If the car had that shift knob I’d keep walking.

I have enough spare parts to build another twin, two oem exhaust manifolds, a spare front pipe, OEM 2020 BRZ suspension with 700 km of use, etc.

Price is good and it includes the parts, most of which I will be keeping such as an aftermarket headunit, drivetrain bushings, and minor cosmetic changes.

The things to be removed are a set of tired Flex Z coilovers and the fully catless exhaust set up (Gruppe-S UEL, Invidia resonated front pipe, GReddy SP catback). I believe in at least a front pipe cat to mitigate smell and noise, and I would prefer to have OEM struts on a daily with camber bolts in the front for comfort on the streets. Doing this would clear garage space out which is otherwise being used as stock part storage, sell the take-off parts, which would make the price even better. I have the time, space, and means to dedicate a weekend to doing suspension and exhaust work, plus I enjoy that kind of stuff every now and then. I'll still be keeping the Lava '86, so all the itches to mod will go there.

The shift knob is absolutely a joke, if I see a listing with that in the photos I immediately close it.

I get where you are coming from. A car being used for both DD and track means compromises for both. It can do both OK but neither perfectly. The stock set up is a more comfortable drive so staying close to it for a DD makes sense. By having that you can go to whatever extremes you want on the track car without concerns of driving it on the street. It is a perfect plan when you do as much track as you.

my phone newsfeed showed me something about temu.com, about how they went for a superbowl ad to try to go after amazon.

interesting site, basically an american alibaba, with a worse search algorithm. i ordered a bluetooth speaker and smart watch out of curiousity.

i dunno, another marketplace, another company. but seems like they're trying to take less from each sale to undercut amazon on per-item pricing.

Honestly, the thing that wore on me the most besides the noise, terrible ride, hard to get in and out of, tempermetalness, ground clearance, lack of functional OEM features, and horrible tire wear is the amount of idiots that want to street race you.

I'm going to remember this one the next time I need to come up with a magic item for D&D.
