I can't see Seb taking a midfield drive at this point, but he's hard-working, intelligent, and (probably?) still loves racing, so I could see him ending up in a management or advisory role at one of the teams.

His best shot at a fifth championship is picking the right midfield team to capitalize on the upcoming rules change. But he does seem tired, time away might do him some good.

Now that Seb is "free" wonder what his racing will be like this year if any racing gets done. He may develop some "hearing impairment" when getting advice from his team...

Ferrari had a part in his showings last year. He will not be forced to listen to the team orders as much and perhaps have less stress.

If Renault don't get Vettel or Alonso back in their car, I think they will pull of out of F1. Abiteboul should have been long gone, the guy is just clueless.

Seb relations to Renault date back to his RB championship yrs & Renault may still want a senior driver so he could end up there. Yet that Orange Woking team still has a 2nd seat Seb could get if the party music stops just right and just may be very competitive next year with Merc power …

As for Alonso… he just cant STFU and thus made him unwanted by past F1 teams, too bad he is still an excellent driver. Maybe he should have bought the cycling team he always wanted…

Yeah, he is too much of an egotistical tool to be a team principal. I love it when Horner trolls him.

Well Sainz to Ferrari. Kinda bummed he is not at McLaren anymore but who would pass up that drive.

I would be kind of surprised if Vettel or Alonso would even *want* to go to Renault. Alonso has made comments that he only wants to come back for a shot at the title, and Vettel would risk getting shown up by another near-rookie teammate yet again.

Unless Renault can convince them that they have something really, really special in the works for 2021... err, 2022.

I think I believe the rumors that Vettel is aiming for Merc and if he doesn't get it he'll retire @The Red One McLaren already signed Ricciardo and Lando is on a longer contract iirc.

If nothing else I am really looking forward to see the new team matchups, we'll get a great measure of all four drivers by the end of next year. I think all four are closer in performance than anyone is expecting.

Mercedes would be nuts to put Vettel and Hamilton on the same team. And crazier still to swap Hamilton for Vettel.

I don't think the memory of Hamilton/Rosberg conflict has faded enough for Merc to be interested in going down that road again. But I could see Hamilton wanting the chance to prove how good he is against a new teammate and Merc wanting the 4 time German champion driving the German car.

“Sainz, Charles is faster than you”

DanRic and McLaren are the winners here. McLaren has no excuse now, they have the right drivers in the team. Question is can they finally deliver a car next year to be at the front again?

Vettel is either Merc or goes to Indy under Andretti. I don’t see him going to Renault But who knows... time will tell.

Still wonder if Seb's passion for the race is still there at 100%

His limited immediate choices may help sway a retirement decision.

As per my comment about pursuing the second McLaren seat:

A contract can be re-negotiated, drivers swapped...

A lot can happen before next year.

McLaren are not letting Norris go. Also, this is the first time where I like the entire Ferrari and McLaren driver lineup.
