Clutch Fork Squeak help - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Car use to squeak when cold and went away once it got hot, but now when the car is hot it will squeak at the very end of the clutch pedal (bottom portion) and make this really dry creaking noise. The clutch pedal itself feels smooth and no gritty feeling I also have tried @Ultramaroon method on greasing up the clutch fork pivot and it did temporarily help but it comes back after a single drive.

Any idea on how to fix this? Don't really wanna drop the trans i got about 69k km and I already cleaned the slave pin and greased the fork 4 times...

pretty sure unless you somehow redevelop the entire system it will eventually always happen. as ultra has stated there are some metal on metal contact points.. when i had my twin it would always squeak after a rainy day despite lubing up what everyone has suggested

Have to drop the transmission.

The only real solution is to replace the fork.

While you are at it replace the fork and the pivot with the uprated ones along with the newer model TOB.

You won't be dropping the trans all the time, once its out better upgrade.

well, it's generally advised to do it in a safe working space, usually with cover overhead instead of the side of the road, and proper pre-planning for tools, jackstands, and the requisite replacement parts

Nah. Can milk it for a looong time with some cheap spray-on grease. My take on the issue has evolved over the years. Once the flat spot wears into the fork, it's junk. Doesn't matter what it's lubed with anymore. The click/squeak will only get worse. It'll give up eventually. How long?

Just to add on - got the same EP grease used at the service centers, along with @Ultramaroon 's instructions. Took my time and removed as much old gunk I could reach with some degreaser and a cloth. Then I stuffed grease into the gap between the pivot and the fork where the wear happens.

Has been squeak free for several months (and I live in a country with a tropical climate).

Quick & dirty: from @Ultramaroon
1. Detach the slave cylinder. Leave the hydraulics alone.
2. Remove the dust boot from the fork.
3. Reach down behind the fork with a finger and feel for the pivot. It's going to be tight because of the retaining clip.
4. Squeeze a decent glob of Lucas Red & Tacky #2 in there with your finger.
5. Jiggle the fork to distribute the grease as much as possible. It'll work in more on its own.
6. Put a dab of grease in the top pivot where the slave pin goes.
7. Reassemble.
