An update from a relatively reasonable and connected source who went to a recent dealer briefing/training session:

GM built 1,000 LYRIQ in September. With the battery plant open they continue to increase production.

Debut Edition Vehicles be delivered from November into Q1 2023. Originally Debut Editions were supposed to stop production in November, delivered by 12/31/22.

Stop Delivery for LYRIQ is currently in place due to a minor issue that is now resolved. Production of LYRIQ has not stopped and continues. (Dadhawk: Issue was a software glitch where when you opened the driver door before the screen shut down, it might not start up the next time you entered the car unless you repeated the process properly.)

2023MY Orders (orders placed on May 18 or 19, 2022) Production Start / Nov 2022
Jan 2023 AWD, Opulent Blue, and Crystal White production expected to start.
2024 LYRIQ orders begin to open January 2023 for MY24 delivery.

Went today and took a tour of VIN *117 demo that is at my dealer for the next couple of days. Unfortunately, it's not a driving tour, just a "here's one in person" tour.

It was basically as described everywhere by those that have seen it. Some random musings good or bad.

Seats were very comfortable. The "messaging" feature was OK, but nothing to write home about.
The dash/screen was excellent (I particularly liked the map view behind the steering wheel).
The screen was very responsive.
There was leg room for days in the back when its in my driving position (I'm a whole 5'7"). With the front seats in the position my wife and I would use, you could almost walk through the back area.
It is long and wide. I knew that from the measurements but it translates to big in reality.
The charging door on this one does jiggle, but honestly I didn't think it was a big deal. It snaps back up in a more fluid motion.
The dial in the middle console has no weight to it. If an aftermarket one comes out I would switch that for more weight. The other controls felt good.
The cover for the glass roof is nice. It is slow though. Felt like it took 30-45 seconds to close.
117 had 20 inch wheels. I saw nothing wrong with them.
The door open/close was a nonissue. I didn't even think about it when I opened either the front or back.
No front trunk is no problem. It has more storage in back than I'll ever use.

Was able to see the opulent blue on an xt5. I'll be happy with it.

I never understood the "requirement" of an EV to have a Frunk...

Never seemed like a deal breaker in any way to me, more like its a bonus if an EV has one.

Its not like anyone whose ever had a car before ever wished it had a frunk.....

The newest version has the glovebox release icon on the bottom of the display in the "home" area so it is always present at least. That's an improvement instead of being three clicks away.

At first there was speculation that the SD card for the 360 view recording was in the glovebox, but it's in the trunk area. I can't justify it.

Then again, I don't remember the last time I opened my glovebox so there's that!

I probably missed it but did you ever post your thoughts on the Mach-E somewhere?

Debating about ordering an EV in the next year for my second and I've seen a bunch here. I like the look of them honestly but haven't gotten a look at the inside or test driven one at all. Kinda curious how they fair.

One of the things that surprised me was rated to the range on the initial Mach e. Some colleagues have it and the get 180miles during summer and 130miles during winter.

I heard that this was improved on newer ones, and hope for them to keep improving.

Hadn't seen that. GM tends to be conservative on their efforts. For example, on their 70MPH road test on InsideEVs the Hummer EV (same battery system) exceeded the EPA mileage range while going 70MPH.

Just like with ICE though weather conditions do impact range of an EV. All Ultium platform GM products have heat pumps which helps condition the battery and increase mileage (in theory at least). I don't believe all Mach-e have heat pumps but could be wrong.

Yes, from top of my mind ICE looses about 15% of efficiency and EV (1st gens) about 25% during winter.

GM is doing a great job and I think they will be the 1st to really challenge Tesla.

If they can ever manage to produce the cars in volume, well the new Ultium cars at least. They are ramping up production for both LYRIQ and Hummer but they have a ways to go.

My complaint with electric vehicles is that no company has introduced a product that jsn't more expensive to buy and operate compared to simolar ICE vehicles. For example, the monthly cost to own a Tesla sholud be almost equal to a comparable ICE vehicle plus maybe $300 monthly,which is the energy savings I could see driving one. But it's more like $550 or $600 more per month. And the interior is nothing special, pretty much stark except for a huge tablet. So the question becomes, do I think the electric vehicle is worth spending another $4000 per year when I'm already spending quite a bit.

My hope is that electrified vehicles will eventually become plentiful and affordable like smart phones. But that would require companies to disrupt things, and the market for electrification is primarily in an upper segment. As much as I want to be a good citizen of this planet, unfortunately the people with an extra few grand to spend are ending up with the virtue.

I am hoping the upcoming Toyota BZ3 will finally break that barrier with a good product.

For the most part, I agree with you, although I think as mentioned above GM is addressing that.

Look at the Bolt which can be had for as little as $26,000 new, yet is a very capable and well reviewed vehicle.

The LYRIQ is another example. Assuming I move forward with the purchase (which is becoming more likely), I will be getting a 500HP/AWD Luxury 5 passenger Crossover with an about 300 mile range for about $65,000. It also LOOKS like a car on the inside and not an afterthought. It is also a high tech vehicle, including SuperCruise and Android Automotive built in.

I can't find anything else that comes close to it at that price range (ICE or EV), which interests me more than the EV aspect of it.

Lyric might also break the norm for Cadillac, which I see as primarily a status symbol for older people. It's another option for Tesla money. Until GM is electrified to a greater extent, it will be the more costly vehicles going electric.
Chevy Bolt might be electrified, but I have seen maybe 1 or 2 in total on the road here in a well populated urban area. I don't know what the reason is, but on looks alone it appears barely higher up the line than the Chevy Sonic, if that still exists. Aside from that, if the Canadian pricing was in line if should be selling more to people that want to go electric but don't want to spend BMW money. I see mostly domestic brand trucks and SUVs and few sedans and coupes. It's difficult to believe GM and it's divisions had over 50% market share in Canada in the 70's. Without pickup trucks, the dealers would probably cease to exist.
