A trailer that has the capacity to haul a car is expensive. Then you have to set up a vehicle to pull it. Then you have to park it somewhere when it's not being used. Then you have license and insurance.

The vehicle you choose, with enough hauling capacity to safely pull a loaded trailer of that size, will NOT be a comfortable DD, let alone it will get relatively poor gas mileage.

Back in the day, I drove a 3/4 ton pickup truck pulling a two axle trailer with electric brakes for thousands of miles. It ain't fun and it makes driving "work".

Back in my drag racing days I was always amazed at the guys that would show up with a $100,000 (todays dollars) highly modified drag car, an $80,000 tow vehicle and a trailer that was home made out of left over angle iron and random car parts. Just because it doesn't have an engine doesn't mean it isn't a vital part of the package.

It's their smallest, but still pretty big...

But way out of my range new. I'm going to be going back in time for towing and drift beater, likely, unless I wait a long time to get a tow machine.

Guess I'll just have to wait and settle for risking a tow!

Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Now to start scoping our a drift car...

Yea, it's considered mid-sized and you are right like all trucks today its pricey. By the time I configure one I would buy with the diesel and 4x4 I'm up to $42,000 but since its a 2018 and there are several similar near me I'm sure I could get one sub $40K but still a lot, which is why I buy trucks used.

Looking around for a new insurance... debating to go with an agent or without an agent. Does anyone have experience or info on that? My fam never had an agent, so don't have much knowledge other than go with an agent will cost a bit more than without an agent.

I always use an agent. They have time to shop, I don't.

I can't help you. I started with USAA 50 some years ago. USAA was started just for Army Officers, then it expanded to most all military personal.

I get a nice "rebate" check of a few hundred dollars at the end of the year and I have several thousand that they have stashed away for me because I'm an old timer. That's in case I get completely senile and forget to make my insurance payments -

However, they did raise my deductible to $100,000 for any accidents caused by me while backing up -

Yeah I did look into USAA... but sadly those are mostly for military personals. I was “kinda” in JSDF, but don’t think that count lol

I grew up with my father running an independent agency.

My father fought tooth-and-nail for his clients when they needed it.

He had pull-he made a lot of sales for them.
You're just a single sale, and thus have barely any leverage.

The "savings" are not worth having no one in your corner.

EDIT:

I'll never forget when my dad started writing with... (company) . I was so proud of him for how he dropped them.
When he started with them, he wrote all of his own policies with them because the rates were good. He wrote a ton of business with them.

Then he had a claim or something with them and they treated him horribly, run-arounds, cycling back into automated systems, hour hold times.... not putting together that he was an agent for them.
Finally, he got someone on the line and said something along the liens of " if this is how you're treating me as a customer, I'm sure as hell not going to send any more to you. I'm done with (company. You can burn our contract while I re-write all my customers."

and he fucking did. I learned valuable lesson about business and my father that day.
