Yep just like phones they gotta keep you coming back for more. Otherwise they make no money. Gotta pay to play. Plus it gets the used market into figures more can afford.

Highly doubt the RS will have 500hp. More like 440-450.

Figured I'd bump this. Looks like Porsche finally gave the Cayman the motor it deserves.

They didn't say a word about which engine it has. However I'm in agreement that they did, and highly suspect they're giving it the GT3's 500hp engine for 2 reasons:

1) 23 seconds a lap faster - wowee!
2) They're killing off the Cayman in just 2 years. This is basically their swan song so might as well go off with a bang, to hell with "offending" any 911 lovers.

Would be surprised if it wasnt a gt3 derived engine. A really good friend of mine purchased a 2022 clubsport and went to a Porsche event back in August where they went over the specs and he said it would be getting the same motor as the gt3 cup car with a regeared pdk. Of course the clubsport is the clubsport, but so far it seems like everything's lining up the same way with the road car, including the regeared pdk as seen in the video. Regular gt4 pdk has noticeably different ratios. Hopefully I got my deposit in early enough, luckily my local dealer doesnt do ADM's but we'll see.

The 4.5L motor from deman, that’s the ultimate engine for the Cayman.

FYI, the 981 GT4 Clubsport (race car version) had the EXACT same engine/transmission as the street legal GT4 version.

I’ve asked my Porsche ambassador about which motor is going in that thing and they simply said they don’t know yet. They’re still fighting for future allocations. Although he did say if he had to guess, it would be a slightly detuned version of what’s in the gt3.

Easy to see how packaging mid engined might limit cooling and detuning 20-50 hp is their 'reliability fix' that can be undone with a tune.

I think the reliability fix in this case is the additional air intakes in the rear quarter windows. The clubsports had issues with hot air coming off the side rads going straight into the air intakes and increasing the iat's, cant remember if it was Porsche or a part of the MR pack but they added air intakes in rear quarter windows a couple of years ago to fix that. Looks like its finally trickled down to the street car.
