Saw this beauty today about 40 miles north of Detroit. Pretty sure one of these will be my next toy.

Yes they are. They're essential to the cooling system.

The UAW strike of GM has delayed the start of production for the Corvette C8 until February 2020.

GM published official acceleration figures for Stingray in line with the numbers recorded in preproduction pieces tested by the press. I'll take their word for it now that there's potential liability involved despite their fine print.
Some other interesting bits in the release as well. Chevrolet Confirms 2020 Stingray Quickest in its History LT2 V-8 engine and dual-clutch transmission combine for unprecedented performance https://media.chevrolet.com/media/us...-corvette.html Prediction: After this, you'll be able to buy a base Supra close to the MSRP of a loaded Camry or RAV4 next year. |

How Chevy Coaxed 40 Extra Ponies Out of the C8 Corvette’s New LT2 V8
Can't decide if I like the engine or transaxle packaging better but one thing for sure, those headers are a thing of beauty.

I don't know how every other magazine and journalist (well mostly Jason Camissa) complained at length about this car, basically calling it an understeering pig. Meanwhile we have motor trend praising it and calling it a non issue. "Many judges mentioned that there's a touch of understeer. Note, I did not say complained about said phenomenon, just mentioned that it's there. Loh noted that dialing in some understeer is a "sensible strategy," as this will be many owners' first time driving a mid-engine car, and understeer keeps the nose pointing in a straight line when you push the throttle farther than your skills allow. Let me stress that we're talking a skosh, a pinch, a tiny amount of understeer. We're just saying the car isn't tail happy. "The genius of this Corvette is it feels benign to beginners," MacKenzie said, "but it's not boring for experts."" |

Having learned about "snap oversteer" in mid-engine cars the hard way with my '85 MR2, spinning across 3 lanes of traffic on a major highway when trying to dodge a car that pulled directly in front of me, I'm OK with that decision.

I learned about snap oversteer in the same car with an added helping of disorientation at my first auto-x. I even bought extra sticky tires before the event convinced I'd be able to exploit the extra grip. Instead I entered the chicane at the end of the longest straight sideways and exited backwards still spinning and collecting cones all over the course eventually sitting in a cloud of expensive rubber dust. The upside is that I got my first random orbital polisher to remove paint damage from almost every panel. |
