Automatic Supercharged Gt86 Shifting Issue
Hey guys, it is my first time posting here.
I just installed an Edelbrock Supercharger on my Automatic GT86 and tuned it at Delicious Tuning (Online as i live overseas) I noticed that when i shift from 4th to 5th gear the RPM drops but the sound of the Engine stays high *meaning the engine lags behind* this happens around the 4500-6000 RPM marker. Anyone has had this issue before? |

how long is the "lag" ?
Are you positive it is entirely due to engine noise? 6000rpm in 4th on an auto is well over 100mph. Do you experience this in any other gear in this specified rpm range? Are you wide open throttle when shifting? Are you manually shifting or auto shifting w/ or w/o sport mode and or TC/VSC on or off? Do changing any of these variables change this from happening? Does it feel like its losing power when this happens or hesitating to start re-climbing RPMs after shifting? Have you asked delicious tuning about it and/or sent them logs of it happening? |

The shift from 4th to 5th in auto is a big "drop" in rpm. The engine rpm does not fall quick enough for the shift or there is a slight over-run therefore you may feel a lurch or hear a slight grind as 5th is engaged because the engine is at too high of an rpm for the wheel speed. Usually I find this happens only at high rpms in 4th-5th and full throttle.
I've only noticed it after going FI because NA it took years to pull entirely through 4th. What I've found that prevents the grind would be to get off the throttle when shifting from 4th to 5th and then getting back on when the gear engages.

I don’t have this problem both before when NA or now with FI and I shift 4th at redline to 5th all the time. The engine matches rpm to wheel speed perfectly.
Only issue I have now that I’m FI is with wheel spin. sometimes the wheels spin to top of 1st or 2nd then when I shift tires grab traction and then rpm drops to match my actual speed and now I’m much lower rpm in new gear then I would normally be and it kind of bogs down a little for a second. But this never happens shifting out of 3rd or higher. |

Yup, same thing. Nothing to worry about since there's nothing you can do about it, just the way the electronic tach works, does what the ECU tells it to do.

It's funny how often the tach gives fake news.

I listen the engine and feel the car when shifting. You would "feel" it if the rpm was fluctuating like that. Keep your eyes on the road!
