Tune but retain warranty?

I just picked up a 2022 gr86 yesterday and am already in love with the car. It is technically used, had 63 miles on it when I picked it up. I got lucky and the guy who originally ordered it works at the dealership I bought it from. Some guy traded in a wide body 370z that the original 86 owner had been eyeing up for years and he immediately traded the 86 for it, so I really lucked out. The guy before me bought the 8 year/125,000 mile warranty from Toyota with it and the warranty transfered with the car. So if I mod it too much, I will immediately lose a ton of value. I never would have bought that warranty myself but that's the situation.

I don't want to do too much to the car. I know I can get away with a nice intake and exhaust setup without voiding the powertrain part of the warranty, but I'm well aware that tuning the car will almost certainly void it and tbh, I'm even more interested in a good tune than I'm interested in making it sound good.

Is there a way around this? I was thinking about buying a second ECU and tuning it to my liking while putting the ECU with stock tune on a shelf. That way, if I do ever need warranty work I can just reinstall the stock ECU. Is this even a viable option? If this won't work then I'll likely just run the stock tune because it's more than enough for a daily. I just hate knowing that I'm leaving easily accessible power on the table.

And technically when they do crack the ECU, Powertrain warranty is void if they catch you.

More accurately the power train warranty may not be honoured depending upon if the issue can be blamed on the tune.

If you want to tune/mod your brand new car then you should be willing to give up your warranty. If whatever breaks has nothing to do with your mods then warranty is no problem. If it is because of your mods and you hide it then it is fraud and you shouldn't be claiming any differently. People whine about the evil "stealerships" but this shit is exactly why they doubt half of what they are told.

A warranty, extended or otherwise, is a contract. Like any contract, if you choose to not abide by the stated terms then the contract can be voided. Your move.

Talk to your local dealers. Some are fine with mods other not so much.

Any deviation from the factory tune will effectively void your powertrain warranty.
