[Sarcasm]We don't need no riding gear. I see plenty of bikers riding in shorts, t-shirts, no helmet, etc and they still seem to be fine. You know what they say: dress for the ride, not the slide [/sarcasm]

I drive with my windows down and no seat belts. I plan on being thrown free from the crash.

That could work if you get t-boned or something and fly out one of the side windows, but I don't see how you plan to make it through the windshield in a head-on crash. That bastard is pretty damn thick.

It is NEVER better to be thrown from the vehicle. Never.

I have septic, propane, and a well. They're all a pain in the ass to deal with but livable. For a retirement home, I strongly suggest you look at getting something with city services, even if it means having less land. Right now, you can deal with all that stuff, but in 20 years, when the septic goes, you may be in trouble.

I have a septic, propane, and well at my lake house. Septic is connected to a waste water system. Not bad.

My guess is the buried propane tank was for before gas came to the neighborhood because water heater and furnace are gas, and there is a gas meter. 8 homes share a well. I haven't heard back from the realtor. No HOA. That is why we stopped looking in Eagle. Nice new homes and you are not allowed to even have a car in the driveway.
