RIP cable modem. Was a Motorola Surfboard from 2009. We had our power flickering off/on during a severe thunderstorm and it finally let go. It powers on, but never finishes it's power on self testing... Time to get some new overpriced plastic

That's why my house is full of UPS systems. It was probably time for a new modem anyway.

I'd love to buy a couple, I had one a long time ago but never replaced it. Started squealing loud and clicking on/off.

Yeah they seem to need replacing every 3-5 years but they keep lasting longer both in time running without power and overall life which each new version.

Reinvent the battery, save the world.

We just replace the batteries in them here at work and they are good to go.

Yeah the higher end ones are worth doing that. My main one is like that. The smaller ones I have for my security cameras and stuff I just buy new units entirely but they are cheap ones.

For all of that stuff which is networked, although not as much of a concern on a home network. No money in that.

I can't say the car feels like it accelerates any differently, but webpages certainly load faster. Guess it really was time to replace my modem. I'm not telling anyone at work I replaced it though, they'll expect me to be doing more.

It's a full net so it just gets caught in the back or in the top.
