Apparently "Isn't it ironic" actually is ironic! Who knew?

Ahhh the English Language, where a words definition doesn't quite fit the situation so you just add another word to it and suddenly it takes on a whole new meaning!

So although the photo itself may not be ironic it does contain, at least for the owner of the car, "situational Irony". Guy purchases 'REKT' number plates and the last thing he expects is that his car would become 'REKT' itself...

Isn't it ironic?....

It isn't irony with that plate. It is coincidence.
Now if it said "Not reckable", that would be irony.
Couldn't it be considered ironic that the plate was meant to be a joke but then it came true?

I knew.

That song has made two whole generations think the word ironic means something totally different then it is. Now that is ironic.

Very much of what gets called sarcasm on here is actually irony.

Nope, not really since that still fall under foreshadowing or coincidence.

Back in the 90s I despised her music but You Ought a Know was on the radio the other day and I actually enjoyed it. I think it was just a classic case of gross overplay by the radio stations back then.
