Jalopnik 2017 PP review

Didn't see this posted yet.

The last line kills me:

Quote:
"Subaru can’t make a better BRZ without leaving behind this “perfect balance” mantra and going full crazy, climbing on to a higher price point and adding WRX power.

Which won’t happen. Or it just might, later this year. Perhaps I’ve said too much..."

Hmm, the other PP review said that something special was coming in 2018. Maybe the tS version will have the PP package and 2.5L engine...

I can dream right?????

Same old story from 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 just bumped up to 2018.

This seems to kick it off (instead of motoring.au for a change)

If you don't want to give them the click just go read any of the tS/STi for next year stories that come out annually.
http://digestcars.com/2018-subaru-brz-ts/

This one is worth giving them a few cents for the click just to read the Engrish (Looks like ichi wrote it)
http://2018releasedateprice.com/2018...turbo-concept/

And this gem counters everything they said in their own earlier "article".

http://2018carsreview.com/2018-subar...iew-and-price/

There are dozens more for anybody that likes to believe this sort of shit.

Tell 'em like it is man!!

It's really funny how a lot of people think a higher powered FWD hot hatch is better than the BRZ on track, but I have never ever seen one of those cars in my 6 months of membership at the local track.

Some people should stop reading car reviews and memorizing numbers from catalogs and start driving their cars before passing judgement.

Just spent 2 minutes on this out of boredom:

These FWD hot hatches might be easier to drive at the limit, not as scary, post faster laptimes, but they won't be as rewarding to drive.
Except the Fiesta ST. This one is fun on its own.

I'm preaching to the choir here.

downshifting puts you above the torque dip

I heard it was a feature to add some European sophistication into the power delivery

I would love to come across one of the Ford hot hatches on track and see how they behave.

I read that Ford makes their hot hatches a little twitchy on purpose with stiff rear suspension to fight the understeer and give the cars a more lively feel. I wouldn't be surprised if BRZ was more stable than both FoST and FiST in fast turns.

I had an 8th gen Civic Si and know that FWD can be a lot of fun, but I feel like you either end up with a twitchy and fast FWD car OR a stable and understeery FWD car.

The last line kills me:
I am way too gullible. Everyone has me worrying that I'm gonna want to trade my '17 in for an '18 right when I pick it up.

Its like phones or laptops or anything. There will always be improvements every year making things not as "great." But you also could have waited for something worse or something that never comes and lost time enjoying the current version. I love the kouki brz but I if you told me I could get that in 4 years I still would get my base FRS day 1. Though I may have got a zenki BRZ at the time if I knew to order on out of state.
