Wasn’t yours supposed to be here Yesterday?

Apparently A LOT of cars got hit with a 30 day QC hold today, With ETAs being unavailable. No one has worked out if there is a stop sale going on or if there some sort of error in the API. Either way it seems its happening to cars that have already left port and on their way to final destination.

My hunch is that it has to do with the hyperflashing of the turn signals.
That's a failure in the basic safety functionality, and apparently Toyota learned their lesson after the Prius accelerator pedal fiasco.

Yeah, I saw that on your channel. Stinks.

I hope i'm still a go for end of April. I'm going to email my sales guy next week for my monthly check in.

Some were successful going with the deposit route, but more seem successful just hunting for one within a certain radius and finding one that way. I spoke to a few dealers recently and told them what I wanted and they said they'll call once they get one whenever that is. Other places I'm on a list, and I have a deposit down at one place. I missed out on two, possibly three because I didn't move fast enough.

Like in all seriousness, if you're not picky about color, you can get one right now in any config if you're willing to drive <800 miles, they're sprinkled throughout the country, just gotta call them fast enough. I've been offered a black one and a grey one already as well during my searches.

This also tells me that if the production numbers were normal, no way would they be getting ADM on these cars, probably be discounted by summer.

Yeah, I found 3 of what I’m looking for unreserved within 400mi, but all were asking a markup. One dealer I called was this awesome guy, did a wide-net search for me and that’s how I found one of the unreserved allocations. That does tempt me to go past that 400/500 mile radius :-(

Today was the last day in my latest delivery window (date previously showed 2/10 -2/12 before going blank). Still nothing, sales guy said the trucking company was not picking up the car today...? Update Monday...

This.

I've told the story in this thread already, but the short version is my local dealership didn't have what I wanted, was padding the price by $3k and still calling it "MSRP" and generally didn't want to lift a finger to help me find the car I wanted until I gave them a thousand bucks deposit.

So I found the car in a smaller town 90 miles to the north. Clicked the "I'm interested" link and had a phone call from them like 15 minutes later. They never asked for a deposit, didn't do any markup past MSRP, and even bought a specific set of all-season tires and had them mounted for me when I arrived to pick up the car. The only stipulation they had was that I finance through them since that's how they make most of their money on the sale (a kick-back from the lender). The APR wasn't enough to make any real difference to me ($4/mo. more than my better rate at my bank would cost).

Got the car last Tuesday, drove it home, then to Dallas and back. Creeping up on the 1000 mile mark and free use of the fun pedal.

(And yes, the whole way on the highway I was varying engine speed/load. It's pretty simple in these cars, 5th and 6th gear are both well under 4k RPM all the way up to 75mph (or significantly more). I just alternated between gears every few minutes when traffic didn't require more manipulation of the throttle.)

My dealer confirmed today that "my car" was part of a quality control hold. They said they expect a 7 to 14 day delay at this point.

That’s a bummer man. I wonder if the one that I have on hold is part of that. I have one now but not the one I ordered. Long story… I’ll start a thread about that soon.

I think a new round of allocations dropped today.. I will wait for the dealer to call me if there’s any good news but I don’t think there is. For the heck of it I searched every dealer inventory within ~250 miles of me tonight. A LOT of cars showing up, some dealers with 3 or 4 in stock and/or in transit. I’d estimate around 35 automatics and 2 manuals (neither close to what I want.) Incredible.
