Be just my luck that the state would burn to the ground a month before I get there.

That would imply he had the water available to push through it. I managed to bring warm dry weather to the PNW after weeks of heavy rain so maybe I can take some nice light rain (overnight only) to California.

You best hurry ....... it's burning up fast ..........

Yep, and irrigation gun is doable ....... if you got the guts to tap into a water main with a 2" water pipe. Run that galvanized pipe up the side of the house and across to the center of the roof......

My first new house that I had built in California was stucco sided and had a concrete (shingle) roof. Damn near fire proof (at least resistant).

Luckily the current fires are way down south, but man, we've had over 300 statewide this season.

Even if I had the water, I couldn't afford that nozzle. My last water bill was $325. That's 2 months worth for a household of 3.

More reasons why I am retiring elsewhere.

Houses in New Mexico have flat sunken roofs shaped like open boxes. Perfect for catching hot embers.

Never been there in my life.
When my wife and I were having breakfast with @humfrz on our trip there he said it was a good place to go if you liked casinos. My wife grabbed that comment like a bear trap.
The next thing I knew she had booked a trip. Since we (well she) actually made money on our PNW trip I could hardly say no. Then Ultra's wife and mine plotted against us and they were joining us.

Now, THAT would be even easier ....... just plug up the drain pipes and flood the flat roof .......
