I can assure you that you are not in their service area.

contact some local dealers-- i know the bmw and lexus dealers in my area have a day every couple month or so where a mobile 'wheel repair' trailer comes through, and they take care of a few dozen wheels at a time.
What I'm gathering from responses from people with some experience is that my expectations were too high, and someone doesn't have to know the difference between a wheel and tire to work for a body repair shop. I can actually feel myself becoming a curmudgeon.

Thanks for the advice on the wheel repair trailer. I'll call a few more places tomorrow and see if I can find out more.

Me: "Hey, I have a wheel with curb rash on it. It is currently off the car. Could I drop it off there to be repaired whenever you get to it?"
Shop: "I don't know, let me check. *2 minute hold* I talked to the manager and we don't do tire repair here. You should call Penn Tire."
Me: "Just to make sure, the damage is to the wheel, not the tire. That's a tire store and I don't think they repair wheels."
Shop: "Yeah, for your tire repair."
Me: "No, I need the wheel fixed, not the tire."
Shop: "Yeah."
Me: "Okey dokey."

Called Penn Tire. They're a tire shop and don't repair wheels.

I try not to be too picky when working with people in a service industry, but I feel like knowing the difference between a wheel and a tire should be a minimum bar when answering the phone for an automotive collision repair shop.
Well now, ScoobsMcGee, maybe you just got an old guy on the phone. If you did, first off, you should have asked to have a RIM fixed (yes SHOUT - rim, cause he is most likely half deaf). Besides, wheels are things that are on wagons

Secondly, don't call it a "curb rash". A "rash" is something to doctor with iodine or camphor oil (you just got him all confused).

Thirdly, don't ask to have it "repaired" - just tell him it has a dent in it. "Repaired" implies it needs parts - rims don't have "parts" (you further confused him).

So, it sounds to me like YOU may have had a communication problem -

If you're gonna reply to old humfrz - put it in LARGE PRINT so as I can see it.

Nope. THAT picture you posted is NOT a RIM. THIS is a RIM - now, how many pieces do YOU count. Don't argue with him, he was messing with tires and rims waaay before your papa was born.

(hell, he can remember when tires were solid rubber)

humfrz - for the old guy

I think I was poisoned by a food I've eaten near my workplace. I've slept more than 36 hours and couldn't eat anything. I'm alright now, and feel I've lost some weight I'm thinking of.. If I eat there again and again; and be poisoned for about 398 more times, I'd be on my ideal weight at last.
