It's the F-108 or F-108S.

The clip is a peace-of-mind thing. I have a Fumoto on my RallyX WRX without the clip and it has never opened or leaked.

So you fit a valve that makes it easy to drain the oil but for peace of mind you have to add an additional clip to it? That sounds retarded to me.

Put a spanner on the plug and unscrew it, as if by magic it releases. Screw, spanner and its closed.

Unless you are doing an oil change every month.

Hmm. . .let's see. Remove a clip and turn a handle or remove a bolt and get oil all over my hands. I think I'll go with the Fumoto valve. If it's not for you, then don't use it.

I have installed the valve on all my Subarus and have never had a problem. Its a small price for so much convenience and you don't need the nipple. :happy0180:

I was doing oil changes every month and a half on the STI. So... yeah it was nice having the Fumoto valve on that. With the BRZ, I'll probably get 3-4 months out of an oil change, but I'm still installing the Fumoto valve on it because it makes oil changes quicker.

And we all know that quicker is always better. Always.

It seems to be well designed, that is why I questioned the extra hose clamps etc. Its not like an 86 will be used for offroad racing.

You are absolutely correct. Don't need the clamp on our cars. If you're driving through brush thick enough to push the spring loaded tab out of its safety slot, you've got bigger problems than worrying about the oil valve.

i just got my Fumoto valve in the mail last night. I also ordered the clip but after playing around with the valve i don't think i'm gonna use the clip. The valve is already "hard" to open. If there's anything that's gonna accidentally open my valve, then i probably have bigger problems to worry about.

Fumoto valve correct torque?

So the car's owner manual says the drain plug should be torqued to 29 ft-lb, but on the Fumoto valve site it recommends 18 ft-lb. Which one should it torque it to?

Just so you know, it'll get "easier" to open once you have oil in there to lubricate it. That said, it's still pretty impossible for something to accidentally move the valve into the open position while it's on our car. The clip is a nice safety measure, but really not needed unless you've got it on some kind of off-road vehicle and you're crawling around the Rubicon Trail, IMHO.

Not sure how you can fit a torque wrench over the Fumoto anyway, I had to use a crescent on it.

Anyway, I went with tighten by hand, then tighten with crescent for another quarter. Done. Oil pans and the Fumoto are pretty strong - it'll take plenty of abuse, so just get it on tight and watch for leaks over the next few days. If it leaks, tighten it some more. If it doesn't, call it a day.

I haven't tried it yet but it *looks* like i can use a deel wall socket around the edge and torque it.

Just not sure which torque spec i should go with. Fumoto said 18 ft-lb, owner manual says 29 ft-lb for the OEM drain plug.
