I think I know who your talking about or maybe a different owner. The first night I went to BWW to meet everyone for the first time, a random red fr-s was trying to show off and doing hard launches at traffic lights even though I was in the other lane with a car in front of me. I think he was trying to act cool or something. I thought that person was going to the meet but he didn't go.
I've noticed when mine starts in the morning, there are one or two "burps" or stutters might be a better term. Then it's all good.

Bald, goatee, plate says DEJAYZZ. I've seen him twice and waved. I know he saw me.

meh

its not what it used to be...when the car first came out in 2012 owners would wave to each other all the time because the people who bought the cars knew about them. It was rare to see another one on the road.

Now people are probably just going onto toyota dealerships and thinking "oh thats a cute car or a cool looking car" depending on guy or girl and just get it.

Its such a common car now that others may just think you are weird. Although i was driving my girlfriends fiat 500 once and another fiat passed me while i was waiting at a light and honked to wave. I couldnt stop laughing.

The only thing to actually stick around is motorcycle drivers waving to other motorcycle drivers. (at least that ive experienced) Some say jeeps do it too but ive never seen it.

A lot of bikers don't do it either, especially if they are on a cruiser or goldwing, and you're on a sport bike. When I was driving in my dad's Corvette as a kid, he and the others usually always waved at each other.

It's very common among corvette owners still. I think it's more the price range and type of buyer. These are sub 28k cars not 45k+ so the type of buyers are going to be more the average than those specifically looking for something.

On west or east side of town? I saw a red fr-s on the west side of tucson near BWW that was showing off and such. Next time I see that fr-s again, I'll see what his license plate number is.

This is true, as a sportbike its rare to get waves from cruisers. But it is a lot more common out here, I am from Milwaukee (home of Harley Davidson) and trust me they never wave at a sport bike there hahaha.
