Just an update, everything is pretty much on hold due to COVID-19 stuff. I went on vacation from work for a week and got sick during my vacation, today is my first day where I'm feeling close to being back to 100%, so I basically lost 3 weeks to that, and I'm now on lockdown like most of the folks in the US are. Given all that, it's clear I'm not making it out to ECR with NASA next month and I'm heavily delayed on the next round of modifications. I'm thinking I might go do a solo drive up at Twisted Sisters sometime soon though, maybe Sunday morning early.

Update, at this point it appears clear that I'll be on lockdown for significantly longer than initially expected. I've put my car up on jackstands and disconnected the lithium battery. Waiting on a battery tender to be delivered. My guess is I won't be leaving my house until August at the earliest. This year's track season is shot for me... so much for getting my NASA provisional license this year.

A long overdue update. I replaced my rear wheel bearings and headed up to ECR again this last weekend for NASA Texas "Fun in the Sun". I ended up with a personal best of a 2:33.x and moved from DE1 to DE2. I'm hoping to do another NASA event in November, and it seems like maybe H2R is ready to re-open next month and is newly paved. If all goes well I should be back on H2R some time in September.

I'm doing home renovations DIY, though, so I'm focused on that until they're completed sometime in October.

I need to replace my front wheel bearings as well, get another performance alignment, and I bought a diff off a guy from Oklahoma that is an OEM pumpkin with TRD 4.56 gears and a Cusco solid pinion in it. Planning to install that soonish. I have sitting waiting to be installed a Greddy oil pan baffle and a Killer B Motorsports pickup tube. I'm hoping to order all my exhaust / power mod stuff in December and work on the car then.

Just a quick update. I've been out to H2R several weekends in a row on these same tires (Dunlop Z3s) doing the whole track in 3rd gear and just working on my line and braking zones, and keeping finesse in my movements. I've worked my time down from a 1:44 to a 1:39 still in 3rd gear the whole way (definitely some spots I could be in 2nd or 4th). I believe I can beat my previous PR, but these tires are now shot and I have a new set of wheels ready to go on that need some tires.

My home renovations are done, and went well. Unfortunately I had cost overruns, and to top it off, I had the fireplace/chimney inspector out and they found I had hidden roof damage and I'm going to need a new roof. So any further racing/car mods are on hold for awhile until I figure out if my homeowners insurance is going to cover it or not. I'm hoping I can pick things back up in the new year and go HAM, but 2020 has kind of sucked and put a dent in things.

Gah. Bummer. Sorry to hear it. At least you got in a lot of good track time before things took a turn for the worse. That should hold you over for a bit.

It's been quite some time since I updated this thread. Just figured I'd share how things are going. I got back on track in late 2021, and was able to do several HPDE events, and a few through 2022, however I changed jobs and moved cross-country. I am now in Colorado.

I'm not sure what's in store for my BRZ next, I'm not going to get rid of it, but it's not really the proper car for Colorado, so I am planning to buy an Audi RS3 or (if I can get ahold of one) a GR Corolla to build out for my fun drive in Colorado, since both are AWD and can be more effective on snow and mountain trails.

I'll definitely be putting the BRZ back on road, and hopefully on track at High Plains Raceway and PPIR during Summer 2023. Until then, no further updates.

Update on this, and I guess somewhat disappointing, but it is what it is. I ended up selling the BRZ. I got a fair value on trade-in and bought myself an AWD car. We are planning on staying in Colorado for the foreseeable future, so I decided there was no point in keeping a RWD sports car around as my fun car. Going to build something different now.

For those that want to try to scoop it and are in Colorado, I traded it in to McDonald Mazda South in Littleton on Saturday. It'll probably be there a couple of weeks before they auction it.

So long and thanks for the all the fish

Looks like they decided to list it rather than auction it, it's up here if anyone in Colorado is interested: https://www.mcdonaldmazda.com/invent...cac19h8606358/
