Man, I have one pair of shorts and 5 t shirts. The weight gain (about 50 pounds in the past year and a half, going from a solid 150 to nearly 200 hasn't helped me. Though, my dad bod is on fuckin point!

A lot of it is from drinking, and a shit diet while working on the road. My schedule is 24 on, 5 off. Working out is difficult when you come off a 12 or 14 hour shift, I'm just not motivated enough for it at this point. I'm also old enough to be a dad, so suck it. Your logic is flawed.

I spoke with my parents about my drinking this morning. My dad raised some good points, and said he was in a similar situation while he was going through his apprenticeship. He said he was also working about 80 hours a week consistently in his first and second year and turned to the drink. He managed it by cutting down a lot, and said his maximum amount of beers per week was 10, but he couldn't have more than 2 unless it was a Friday or Saturday. He told me I should consider doing that, instead of cutting it off completely, especially since being in the military, there's a lot of drinking, which leads to a lot of bonding time. This is important, especially since I'm leadership now, and my troops don't really get to know me until we're in the mess and I have no reason to yell at them. Unless of course they wear their hat in the mess, then prepare for knife hands.

But, in all seriousness, my dad took it much better than my mom. She seemed to be of the opinion that she did something wrong as a parent. Tough to watch your mom cry and blame herself because of a choice you made. I'm pretty bummed out that I caused this, and I'm not looking forward to telling the rest of my family of what I'm going through, and the emotional/mental state I'm in. But, I'm glad that I have a plan and I'm going to follow my rules throughout it. I think I'm going to limit myself to 7 per week, only 1 through Sunday to Thursday, and no more than 4 Friday or Saturday. From there, I think I may continue to cut down on the amount per week until it's almost non-existent in my life, outside of special occasions.
