Help with slight wheel rubbing.

Hey all so I finally installed my HKS Hypermax IV GT coilovers. I left about a finger of space to prevent rubbing. When I turn my wheel all the way to the right/left I can put my pinky between the gap it makes. I do want to go lower tho, like half an inch lower. I'm certain that if I do go lower I will in fact start rubbing.
My question is, will spacers help prevent this?
Wheel set up is as follows; WedsSport TC105n 17x9.5 with General G Max RS 245/40/17. I'm trying to go for a look with zero gap, I can put my thumb between my wheel and fender at the moment.

I believe your wheel sidewall profile is too large which can induce rubbing since the tire is meatier and taller. I thought the recommended aspect ratio for anything 9.5 wide is only 35 or 40’s, as 45’s becomes a bit too tall for the inner linings.

The difference between a 245/35 and 245/45 is huge according to the wheel calculator at http://www.ft86motorsports.com/wheelitfit/

You might be able to dial in more negative camber to reduce the rubbing depending on where it might contact but I’d look for 245/35’s since you stated you want to go even lower. Should solve your problems as many run that tire size with no problems at all and many are able to slam.

For what it’s worth, a 245/35 tire will also lessen your speedometer error too since it’s more in line with the stock size (215/45). Hope this helps!

245/40r17, not sure I’ve ever seen a 245/35r17.

If you want the slammed zero gap flush boi look it’s going to rub.

None yet. Just coilovers. I'll be getting a camber kit in the near future just so I can run about - 2.5 camber and so I can have a perfect alignment.

I posted the wrong size on my first post. Dunce. It's actually 245/40/17. Not 245/45/17

I took some pictures to help see what I've been describing. Hope it helps!
I would love to be able to lower my car about 3/4ths to a full inch.

Which offset do your wheels have? What's the location you're concerned about rubbing? Outside edge of the tread or inside edge or something else?

Spacers will make it worse. Adding negative camber will help as pointed out earlier. If you go really low you will still rub the fender liner. Mine rubbed the fender liner in the front under hard cornering on 245/40/17 17X9 +38. I was around -2 with no wheel gap.

Offset is +35. And inside edge.

Seems like we have similar wheel setups. Do you have a picture I can see? Only difference in our set up is the offset. You have a +38 whereas I have a +35. Knowing what you know about your tires would you say it's safe to lower mine 3/4ths of an inch?

I don’t have a static shot of my car that low. I believe this is around -1 5/8 front and -1 3/8 rear.

I think another -3/4 on your car might be a little too much. Another half would probably be okay. When you go too low with this car it is into the bump stops a lot and makes the ride a bit harsh. We don't have much bump travel to begin with.

Thanks for the advise man! I think ima lower it another half inch and see how that goes for a month or so. One more thing. I know an alignment is needed when coilovers are switched out, I got one, but lowering it 1\2 inch won't require an alignment right? Since the coilovers are already on

Lowering will effect alignment. More so in the rear then the front. The car will likely still track straight, but both ends will gain negative camber. It will toe the front in a touch, and the rear out a touch. I don't know how much another half inch will change it, it could be negligible.
