Yeah, I'm excited to drive them. Brock (posted above) bought the very lightly used set that popped up on the forum last week and from what I've heard so far he is happy. I'm sure he will post about them once he has an event on them.

I've heard good things about the Nitrons too, but I've never seen a set in person. Interested in what you think of them when the time comes

Pulled the header and it isn't cracked anywhere, but the flange is very, very slightly warped (1/16" or something) and has a bit of exhaust residue. With any luck having the flange flattened clears up the ticking I noticed yesterday.

Remflex may be a good option for you. Was the only way I could get the header to seal on my built 22RE. It was pretty warped.

The Nitrons are worth the wait, but the can take a while at times. Their production team is small.

I don't usually buy track pictures but I thought these two were kinda interesting, they were one after another.




Whole car sucks down on the brakes instead of front only diving. You can also see I STILL don't have my splitter level or correctly raked yet.

And also, the obligatory two wheel picture.



This was the WHP East video. I actually ran two laps in different sessions that were 1:02:144 and 1:02:145 on official AMB transponder, this was the one faster on AIM timer.

Unfortunately, mistake out of turn 2 cost the 1:01, I shouldn't have lifted from WOT at all through the left hander after the carousel, and I should have carried more speed through the kink where the pit entrance is. Downside of the kink is that there are at least four curbs involved that will eat a wheel if you get it wrong.

I dropped my header off with a local track guy that has a business that does flattening for aerospace / semiconductors, pretty cool setup and when he stuck the header flange on his flat table he just laughed. Still waiting to get it back but I'm not in any real rush.

Finally got around to putting together the ACE radiator ducting that I've had in a box since I bought the car, fits fine with the K intake.




After noticing a bit of melty melty action going on with some plastic on the hot side of the motor and seeing Trip Walker's fire action melting the fuse box I decided to do a bit of heat shielding.

Few nutserts and some aluminum pieces later and I've got this. I'd like to add one more support to the top of the shielding in the back, but there isn't much I'm willing to stick a drill bit into back there. Should be fine, but we will see.








Not the best, not the worst, but it'll do the job for right now. The valve cover is off because Charlie / Doryoku made me a new valve cover with the vent on the top of the valve cover instead of the side; having the vent on the side was a dumb idea on my part, it pushes oil through in right hand corners.

I'm waiting on the Xidas to show up, but in the mean time I picked up new bushings for a set of RacerX RUCA that I saved from Hyperblue. TT5 rules changed this year (of course) allowing you to get rear toe, RUCA or RLCA, and front lower control arms for free.



I still have to do something about my wavy splitter, but I'm not really sure what I want to do. The thing is warped up at the front edges from moisture and the front of the splitter should really be raked so it is lower than the rear, so I've got a problem there. This is what it looks like, if anyone was curious.

Four professional awesome splitter rods up front, the aluminum bracket shown in front of the radiator support, and two bolts that come up through the bottom of the radiator support and catch two nuts dropped into the support. Verus air dam bolted onto it and it gets sealed to the bumper with gaffer tape.




I think the real answer is a home made foamcore CF splitter, I just don't know that I really want to deal with the gigantic mess.

Far cheaper and easier would be skipping vacuum bagging, but I don't know what the weight / rigidity tradeoff is in real life.

Easy button is sending a template to AJ Hartman or Lang Racing Development, both which are around $1200 or so. Racebred also does their cut wood splitters for $400.

We shall see.

That heat shielding looks good!

I have many of the same thoughts about trying carbon fiber for a splitter. :-)

The first splitter I made was up in the front as well (followed the bumper). I found this to produce a lot of drag which showed up at the end of long straights. It might be worth getting the angle correct on your current one and test before going all in on a new one.

Yeah, fair point. I have to move the front two splitter rods because of where the intake duct anyway, I think if I chop down my two rear mounts a bit and extend the front rods a bit it'll push the splitter to where it needs to be.

I'll need to beg for a guest pass to one of the private tracks next month to get everything in the right window once I'm done here.

I ended up doing a piece of 1/8" aluminum L with some elevator bolts through the bottom, it easily passes the stand test so I think we're good for now.




New Doryoku valve cover with a serviceable baffle, front shaved for hood clearance, and a 10an ORB on top installed.




Xidas showed up today Maybe I'll do all of the suspension this weekend.
