Some styling cues from the FT-HS made its way onto FT-1. But the two are not really the same car. The start date for FT-1 officially began on March 2012.

If anything, FT-HS is closer to the size of the twins. And depending on who you talk to at Toyota, they will say FT-HS is a very early blue print for the twins.

But I think FT-HS previewed both the twins and FT-1. Like how the Lexus LF-CC previewed both the IS sedan and RC coupe.

I don't know about this one, but in the past years, Toyota always confirmed a final production design then they try make it fancier then call it a concept car. So they basically build a production model first, and fix it with "concept" later. It happened to Subaru as well after they jointly develop 86 with Toyota. I believe that LF-CC is a concept for IS when they were planning IS coupe, but then they didn't want to compete directly with 4 series; so they make another coupe slotted between IS and GS. The concept for RC was LF-LC, at least that's what most of inspirations came from. Yeah yeah, the shapes between RC and LF-LC are different, but so are WRX and WRX concept.

I'm sorry but the LF-LC and RC are not the same car. This has been confirmed by Clublexus.com and MotorTrend.com during an interview with a Lexus official.

A production LF-LC will be built on the LS platform. As we all know the RC uses a shorten version of the GS platform. (So does the IS).

the LF-LC concept could be based on a shortened version of the LS sedan’s chassis and be powered by a hybrid powertrain.

LF-CC is obviously IS coupe concept. Taillight and headlight is a dead giveaway. Not to mention the grill of LF-CC is 80% similar to IS, and doesn't look anything like RC. Even the sideskirt design is very similar between IS and LF-CC.

First off, there is no such thing as an IS coupe

But lets be honest now. The RC coupe is basically an "IS coupe". There maybe litte differences like with the G37 sedan and coupe, but they are really the same car. Like how the new 4-Series coupe is really a 3-Series with 2 doors.

Now back to the main point, you are telling us that the LF-LC is the concept for the Lexus RC. It is not....

RC is not necessarily production of LF-LC. You see, RC was debut after LF-LC. It's psychological thing that the designers/design team embrace the elements of the most recent design and incorporate it to another one. LF-LC can be a preview of another coupe, but by the time it debuts as a production model, many design elements will be changed to catch up the latest Lexus design theme. See where I'm going?

Um wasn't that what I was saying about FT-HS, FT-86, and FT-1?

Also the interior of the LF-CC is pretty much the same as the RC. I agreed, everything starts having a similar look in the end.

Yes. I also thought FT-86 was heavily influenced by FT-HS. FT-1 is another design theme, and by the time it reaches production we're going to see more change in design element, that excludes the tone downs the production car will get.

I was talking about release date because I thought the project started since FT-HS. It should be earlier than 2017 as stated by the article. I never say anything about the design. I started talking about the design when vh_supra brought up the LF-CC.

well even if FTHS was suppose to be the new Supra it appears they scrapped that design and started all over from the ground up with FT1.

FTHS was suppose to be powered by a 3.5 V6 hybrid and underpin some Lexus platform. while a production version of FT1 may use BMWs I6 and use a brand new co developed platform.

this is at least as silly as saying the frs isnt a sports car because it doesnt have at least 250hp. it doesnt make any sense.

HP doesnt make a car a sport car while having 250hp will put the 86 beyond a beast.

Transmission does however. Is there such thing as CVT SPORT MOTORCYCLE ? .... Hmm
