.srf vs .bin vs .hex

Whats the difference between .srf, .bin and .hex and which is best to use for open source ecuedit and romraider? I have found that Romraider will not open .srf. Also I get a warning when try to resave an .srf as a .bin. Default for saving a read rom in ecuflash is .srf for some reason.

srf is structured rom format only ecuflash understands this format. it contains the rom data plus some extracinfo like your vin number and is padded out to a standard length.

hex/bin is essentially the same contains only the rom data.

you get a warning in ecuflash when you save an srf as bin/hex as its will drop of the extra info however its not needed for romraider or flashing your rom with correct definitions. the ectra data is used by tactrix guys i believe when a new rom is pulled.
