And the Cayman has a torque dip too
Maybe that 0.4 seconds was that noticeable to me, but I'm not launching it and redlining 1st gear from every light trying to hit that 0-60 figure

Maybe fast/slow isn't the right way to describe it. In everyday driving, the Cayman S (987.1) I drove for a few weeks felt like it took less effort to keep up with traffic all around than the BRZ. Is it actually much faster from stoplight to stoplight? Probably not, but it felt like it. It was probably the longer gearing that made it feel easier.

Idk why pointing out the torque dip in a Cayman matters - it's still making more torque than the BRZ at all speeds. I didn't even notice the torque dip.

Eh, the torque dip is something this community gets stuck on, I figured it was coming.

Keep in mind, the numbers I posted was for the Cayman. Not the Cayman S. That will feel significantly faster, it has 100 HP on the twins. It doesn't feel like 100 HP because the Cayman's longer gearing and the extra 200lbs, but it still feels significant.

What mods have you done? those are some decent numbers. laminate dyno sheets is just icing on the cake.

Not alot, it's all in the tune, or should I say, the tuner, Paul Fisher.

And a very free flowing (cheap) exhaust

Driving spiritedly near redline all the time is where the power is fine. I'm not talking about that. It's about day to day driving to keep up with traffic down low on the rpms from 1k to 4k rpm.
I do drive different. I use the gas pedal and shift at 2000 rpm's or a bit more depending on what gear I use. I've hit 40 mpg on a tank, and can easily come close on long drives. I've never once thought the car did not have enough torque. I have no idea how anyone does unless they come from a 400 hp car.

I'm not sure I ever shifted this car at 2,000rpm. Or any car outside of my trucks.

No wonder i get bad fuel economy

Don't even have to come from 400, lol. The low weight helps quite a bit but you really have to wring this motor out to get anything.

I have never considered gas mileage an issue with this car no matter what I've shifted it at.

If I had the money to have the number of cars you do, I don't think I'd ever worry about gas mileage.

I came from a 100 hp 2100 lb Yaris. Gas mileage isn't real concern, but it is hard to go from getting 45+ to getting 30. Gas mileage is one of the reasons I picked this car over a turbo 4 camaro or mustang.

I love my Cayman S, no regrets about switching. The occasional second thought though? Well sure, who doesn't. Even if I was never happy with the FA20 it doesn't mean the BRZ is a bad vehicle (not remotely).

BRZ is way way newer, way cheaper if anything mechanical fails catastrophically, and a bit more convenient with the small rear seat.

But I'm happy with my choice.

Does your Cayman happen to be a 718?

Nah, and never say never, but I don't think I would ever consider a 718. Entirely because of the engine.
