For those looking to install the new wing on their older BRZ limited, the new wing mounts will fit into the original 13-16 wing bolt holes! I removed the 2017+ wing from its mounts, installed the new mounts loosely onto my trunk, set the new wing down, and hand tightened its bolts. Once everything was loosely put together, I tightened starting with the mounts. That allowed everything to fit together!

Who knows? Was sufficient for toyobaru to do that, even while redesigning part costs money they'd be glad to save on.

I just used some plastic plugs from my old spoiler holes, and painted them my color. But this time, I’ll get a new trunk lol.

Bumping this thread up from the dead.

For discussion purposes, let's say you're not a big fan of the newer 17+ BRZ wings and want to install the 13-16 wing on.

I know the 13-16 wings have more fasteners on the center section of the wing. Anyone know if these are removeable? If so, it seems like the 13-16 wings are compatible on the 17+ trunks.

They are compatible, but you will be left with two holes at the sides that will be open I believe. There is a thread on here that talks about the duckbill spoilers not fitting the 17+ models as they leave these two holes open. I had made the mistake of purchasing a duckbill spoiler before knowing it was not going to fit my model. You can see these extra holes in this video:

Does anyone know where you can buy an active rear spoiler or wing?
I have only found a few videos but no diy install kits?

Maybe mounting a separate kit like this one onto the trunk?

Super old post, I know, but you sir are a Godsend. Thank you! I plan on doing the same thing to my '15 FRS. My '17 spoiler is just sitting in the closet and I had no idea on how to install. Nice work!

Question, anybody know the paint code or color to the black matte part of the spoiler? Mine has a few chipped spots. I've tried coloring it in with a black sharpie that was recommended by someone from a fb group. That didn't work (go figure.) Maybe get some black touch up paint and call it a day?
