Consumer Reports sums things up nicely,

55% of people who bought an extended warranty never used it.
Of the 45% who did use it, on average, they spent more on the warranty than it paid for repairs.

There's a fantastic reason why most car companies want to lock you into the extended, and it's not because they care about your well being

Bought it 20 Nov 13 and it has 4300 miles on it. I'm supposedly getting a 75% refund.

This is when I turn it on

Sounds like a similar issue noted here, though I have an LED dome light as well and don't have that issue.

Seems like an applicable fix is to solder an inline resistor to your LED board

OH that makes sense! Not how it reads though.

You could say the same thing about auto insurance. I'd hate to think about how much I've paid into State Farm and how little they've covered (especially considering that there is always a deductible with any collision.) It really depends how much you pay for it versus your expectation of using it and what your tolerance is of downtime. I sold back that 4Runner warranty because I sold the vehicle, but at a low price, it wasn't a bad value (not great, but not bad either). If I paid $1200 for that warranty, it would be a different animal all together.

It was a generic LED board I bought years ago for my FJ, I've never heard of anyone having your issue on the 86 platform though. Perhaps you can try a different LED board? I've bought LED's from @KI_ZN6 and they were great to deal with.
