Lol yeah no way. Our shop guys are the kind of guys you can tell that their wife’s do everything at home. I knew it was getting delivered later today so I was fine with my solution.

i keep toilet paper on my work van. easier and more consistent than having to deal with guessing if it'll be available when i use the bathroom.

In 2001 I spent about 10 days in Beijing. I stayed at the Australian Embassy which was kinda cool. One day while out and about I had to use a public toilet for a sit down number.
I paid my 2 or 3 coins and went to the shitters. Yeah, they were squatters. This was a bit of a dilemma for a couple of reasons. Firstly my ankles. My ankles do not have a great range of movement. When I squat my heals come off the ground so I am squatting just on the balls of my feet. This becomes uncomfortable very quickly and maintaining balance is a bit of a challenge.
The most disconcerting thing was there was no door on the cubicle. Ok, I could almost manage that except for the fact all these Chinese people were watching me. No joke, they wanted to see a foreigner use a toilet. There was no embarrassment from them, it was just like "did you see that car go by, what did you have for breakfast, did you see that round eye guy use the toilet?" That is, there was no shame in bodily functions.
So there I am, trying to maintain my balance with my pants around my ankles, trying to unload with a bunch of people watching me. Nope, I couldn't do it, I left having wasted my money.

It turns out I didn't need to go as badly as I thought.

I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them used something out of the trash to clean up with.

Apparently squatting is much better for your bowel health according to many studies, if that is any consolation to your traumatic experience..

Yeah, I've seen a couple of articles saying that and no, it didn't help at the time.

I can't believe I never watched Lost. I really enjoy shows that make your head spin and make you pay attention to every detail so you can connect the dots as you go.

Ugh. I don't have a lot of things, but I also have a lot of things. It reminds me how much I tend to squirrel shit away till I have to pack up and move.

Man, nothing like waking up in a freezing morning in the woods, walk to the nearest latrine that looks exactly like this.

I sht you not, you find a guy taking a dump next to you, and we are just like "Hey" and the person is like "Hey", and proceed to take care of our business. Finish, put your gear back on, and continue another day in paradise in the Army.

My Grandfather always said "If you build a two-seater outhouse you got to learn to be sociable". Didn't originate with him, but it always got the point across.

Yup. Movers didn't believe me when I ordered two 20' trucks for a 1300sq/ft house. They gave us the short crew too for the same reason. Poor guys. First thing they did was call and say "uh, we're gonna need the bigger truck"... They'd sent one 10'...
