Hey guys I finally got my 86 Back from repair earlier today. I don't want to experience that again. Really being a lot more careful on the roads. Almost done installing my amp and subs. Had some trouble with my ecutek thanks to @Yruyur for advice.

I have an understanding that the stock head unit requires a setting change to get a newly installed an amplifier to work properly can anyone tell me how to go through the menu and change that setting

Turn your key to the on position. Power off the head unit.
Press and hold the volume knob until the display gives you menu options.
Select car type by using the volume knob to navigate.
Set to frs.
Use the revert key to exit.
Enjoy

There's also a setting to turn on the subwoofer in the menu quoted in the post below your original question.
