Nice, I like that term.

I forgot about the Renault, cause we don't get it, and we don't get the ford anymore either. I guess the Veloster N counts, but I haven't seen any on the roads. I guess that's why I keep forgetting about it. I run into a new GTI 5 times a week.

if only we got this beauty over here:

Sounds to me more like the definition of "hot hatch" has changed and those lower powered ones are "luke warm"...

(and in the spirit of full disclosure, I have always hated the term "hot hatch", there has to be a better term than that)

A base Camaro LT1 is $34K and 1SS is $37K list. You should easily be able to get an nicely configured one for low to mid 30's.

Yet somehow they were baffled in how to make it RWD? The Toyota global platform which is predominantly FWD is somehow easier to adapt?
I don't buy it for a second. It isn't even a reasonable thought unless somebody has no idea how a global platform works and thinks that it equals a fixed chassis in some way.
The article shouldn't be hard to find since it was one of the ones that Bestcar came out with a while back and then every other clickbait jumped on board with it. Everything that they claimed they knew in that articule they have said the complete opposite in their latest (the one floating around now).
When one clickbait releases their fiction as news then the rest keep quoting it and it appears to be real when all it really is a is a huge game of telephone. They get clicks and make money though so they don't care if accurate or even real.

And Lexus is almost all longitudinal RWD :p

The average curb weight of a Lexus is around 76 thousand kilograms though.

That would be my biggest gripe about using the TNGA. All RWD cars built on it are 3500lb+

Its fine for Lexus product for the most part. Luxury grand touring boats dont really need to be light and nimble when you're bathed in comfort, but they're still overly heavy for whatever reason. at least they seem to do a good job making it feel like it shrinks as you push it.

Low 30s for an LT1 is easy. Hell wait for Chevy's 15% end of year sales and you can buy an LT1 in the upper 20s easily.

Bang for the buck is not what the Twins represent lol

Given how badly the CTR overheats at the track, and the FocusRS can shutdown AWS due to heat, Hot Hatch might be exactly right!

That Golf R luxury boat is a luke warm hatch at best though.

Not here in LA. Did a 100 mile radius search just now and there is 1 no option manual LT1 at 33.5K which comes out to about 37.1K after TTL. Next cheapest cars are 36.4K and 38.7K before TTL, everything else is north of 40. Dealers here don't really carry the entry level SS anymore.

Part of it is going to be this time of year, it's about the worst time to buy a chevy as their big dealers are usually in March/April. Combine that with the very limited inventory..

For what it's worth I bought my ZL1 1LE for $53k last March which is like 28% off MSRP or whatever.

Not talking with TTT/OTD though as that varies everywhere (and based on the deal, trade in tax credits, etc), just the cost of the car.
