Lucy. (Daedex's Build)
2013 Subaru BRZ Limited
So here is my build! The purpose of this specific journal is to not only provide a good read, but also to inform and teach about specific mechanical, cosmetic, and other issues or events that happen to me. The way I see it, if you can learn from my failures, you're the better prepared one. Some quick info: Date of Purchase: It was bought on August 24th 2014, and was pre-owned with 16k miles. I personally didn't care about the pre-owned part because a) it was cheaper, and b) I received an extended 100k/7year warranty for free, so I am happy. Location of purchase: Auto-nation Subaru Scottsdale Arizona. If you go here, ask for Richie. He didn't BS around and told it like it was. I got to know him over the course of 2 months going back into the dealer every other day getting more and more info. Over-all I strongly recommend. For Mechanical issues, fixes, and general maintenance go here For maintenance logs (oil change dates, etc) go here For cleaning materials and cosmetic maintenance go here For my actual story and more pictures, go here Modifications it came with initially: -Enkei Performance M52 rims ( I will be selling these for the specific rims I want) -Perrin exhaust tips ( tips only? really dude?) -Black painted roof and spoiler -All interior lights are LED + license plate lights Modifications I did: -Pure White LED Fog Lights -Perrin Catback 2.5" Resonated Exhaust My Review of the exhaust is here. Upcoming Modifications: -Enkei RS05RR 18x8.5 (Dark Gunmetallic) -Continental Extreme Contact DW 245/40/18 -Eibach Pro Springs -Polyurethane Side Skirts -OEM Audio SL system -Valenti Tail Lights, and LED rear bumper -KICS Racing Lug Nuts R26 Composite 12x1.25 -[ame="http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000U89KGW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=N511 725VSYOT&coliid=I16PJKLZW4F0K7"]Valentine One Radar Detector[/ame] -Perrin Lightweight Crank Pulley and Accessory Pulley -Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft -Brembo 4 Piston Brakes Once the modding starts, I will be updating and reviewing items as much as possible to help. Also, I ask the community that if you have any constructive criticism, info or help, I WELCOME it! Just please be nice, haha. Last edited by Daedex; 02-03-2016 at 06:22 PM. |

Mechanical Issues, Fixes, and General Maintenance
Initially when I recieved the car, i noticed two issues off the bat:
(as of 08/29/2014) -The infamous engine idle chirping -A rattling sound at low RPM's under the hood (either what people say here or here) -Thud in rear when shifting The rattling sound particularly bothers be and happens specifically between 1k-2.2k RPM in first or second gear after the engine has heated up. Initially when it is cooled, i do not hear it. The reason I am so worried is because I used to work on go-karts at a kids camp, and these go-karts would make this same sound when the engine was dying and/or overheating. I just dont want that to happen to this car since it is much more expensive than a go-kart. Last edited by Daedex; 09-17-2014 at 12:46 AM. |

Perrin Catback 2.5" Resonated exhaust Review
10/4/2014:
Just installed my Perrin Exhaust resonated, and i have got to say, it is the sexiest sound I have ever heard in my life. Imagine the Good Lord himself purring in your ear. Yup, that's how it sounds. Quick thank you to Mike@CZP for getting me a sweet deal on the Perrin exhaust. I received such a good price, that i will buy every mod that I can through them. Review: I am a super happy camper with my purchase. The exhaust itself was extremely easy to install and it took less than 30 minutes from start to finish. I should mention that this was all done on a lift and not on jacks. [ame="http://youtu.be/0r9ytUxCQqM?t=1m35s"]Here is a video review and DIY install of the perrin exhaust that convinced me to buy it myself.[/ame] Here is a video review and DIY install of the perrin exhaust that convinced me to buy it myself. (Install starts at 1:35) I have driven it pretty aggressively and on the highway going 75 on cruise (6th gear, temp ~90 degrees F [+/- 10 degrees], 20% humidity) there is no droning what-so-ever. Granted it is 2-3db louder inside the cabin, but to me, its not enough to make a difference. I STRONGLY suggest to at least look into this exhaust if you're in the market. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need help with the installation, or with general questions. Ill do an update about this exhaust in 2-3 months as well
