Installing license plate relocator without a torque wrench?

Hey, what’s up guys! Hope your holidays are going great!

I just got my front bumper replaced and the body shop did not drill holes in them!....THANK GOD!!

I want to install a license plate relocator, but I do not have a torque wrench. Every tutorial I see everyone doing uses one and I’m not sure if I can install a relocator kit without one.

Also, what license plate relocator kits do you guys recommend? I want the plate to be towards the center, and not close to or blocking the turn signal.
Price is not an issue.

Thanks for your suggestions! This is kind of urgent as I currently don’t have a front plate and I’m really not trying to get a fix it ticket. HAHA

Glad you got your new bumper.

You don't need a torque wrench to install a license plate frame. Just use a open or box end wrench or screwdriver and tighten down the screws/bolts until they are "snug" plus a half turn more ......

Same thing happened to me. 4002 miles in to ownership, my wife hits a huge chunk of semi tire that rips off the bumper and license plate. Which the dealershit had so lovingly attached a bit crooked. I took the stock bracket and modded it. It is now zipped down in the mesh. I think it looks good centered but not on the bumper.

Or just run without a plate! I will happily pay a $200 ticket not to have an ugly front license plate. Of course I live in Dallas and they have more important things to worry about. In 20 years I have been pulled over 3 times and warned about no front plate no ticket yet just a written warning from a State Trooper.

A reason I'm hesitant to put a licence plate right in front of the grill.

Or you could keep it on the inside your windshield as the "front of the car" is defined as anything beyond the dash by Texas state law. Of course individual countys claim otherwise.

Damn bro cant decide between the Grimmspeed and the Perrin.

I want the licence plate to be away from the turn signals and not have it block the light from any angle.
Will this give me what I'm looking for, in terms of placement?

I'm at work so ill get a picture later. I got the Grimmspeed because of the multitude of placement options and rotations it provides over the competitors.

Thanks! As I posted, do you think I can screw the rod into the tow hook with my hand? I do not have a torque wrench.
Plus I'm thinking tightening it with my hands would enough to hold a licence plate.....right?

You can use a regular wrench to tighten it. Make sure you loctite the threads so you can get it undone in the future.

My Perrin. I've been pleased with it. Use blue LocTite. And a box wrench.
You'll also need an alen wrench to attach the spider to the end and the plate.



edit: I caught a retread carcass too. Told them "DO NOT DRILL HOLES !!!11"
