Advanced Keys Push to Start Install in progress For the FRS.

Hey Guys / Gals

I just wanted to show an Advanced Keys / Push to Start install in progress on a M/T FRS. The M/T FRS has a M/T neutral wire that you can hook up to so the remote start is good to go. Let me start out by saying I have found a new respect for the people who do installs for a living. I have done a lot of Mother F-ing but the systems features have been coming online one by one. I will do a full write up so the next ones that do this install can to it in a short amount of time. The system is pretty slick.

Bad thing is you need 2 Idatalink bypasses modules for the lock / unlock and transponder bypass. I paid 110.00 2 bypasses and 40.00 for the USB adapter to flash the module.

So far I got the following to work as intended . No key needed just the smart Fob in your pocket

Push to Start ( good )
Door lock / Unlock as you walk or walk away from the vehicle ( Good )
Arm & Disarm as you walk or walk away from the vehicle ( Good )

Remote start is a work in progress. Advanced Keys Support has been A+++

Pic # 4 is a Kenwood KOS-A300 Media controller add on that is discontinued. You can pickup for 35.00 on Ebay. It works great and for 35.00 you cant beat it. Makes the dash look high tech and it works great. I seen the same set up in my bro's BMW.

This kit is not specific to the FRS. Its a universal kit. I got the kit online from a company called Advanced Keys. I like this kit better than the Easy-Go because you don't have to change out the door handle, you get remote start and it cost less.
I went to the Subaru dealer and ordered the plastic pocket to mount the push to start button for 11 dollars.

You need one Idatalink bypass module for lock/unlock and the other bypass is for your immobilizer to be able to start your car with out the key in the lock cylinder. Its sucks but there is no way around not getting 2 .

Here are a few tips if you install this unit in your M/T FRS.

1. Make sure to hook up the neutral safety wire and test that it is working. Don't just ground it out or you will see you car rolling down the street without you in it if you forget and leave it in gear when you remote start !

2. Run a tach wire from the engine bay into the car to hook up to the units tach wire. The push to start will be one touch instead of holding the button down until the car starts.

3. Run a fused wire from the battery to power your unit. DO NOT TAP INTO THE EMPTY SPOTS ON YOUR FUSE BOX. You need a 30 amp fuse. If you do tap into the fuse box and blow a fuse you could damage your unit and maybe you car. I know because I did this on my Acura and it cost me 2000.00 to have all the wiring harness replaced. Not good.

4. All the wires you need to tap into are on the side of the driver side dash and kick panel. The hardest wire to find was the security light for the IMO bypass. I found the purple wire behind the fuse box right above the clutch pedal. It was tight trying to get back there.
