For a BMW CPO is worth it.
Well people should be smart enough to not buy a used German car anyways.

I mean how can you brag about a superior automobile when you buy used right?

No, how can you be dumb enough to buy a used German car that will cost thousands to repair?

That's about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. All cars cost thousands to repair.

I had a 98 Lexus GS400 that the only money I spent was oil changes. My buddy had an 08 3 series that he spent thousands on, along with everyone else that buys a used BMW. I understand IF something goes wrong, it'll cost thousands. I'm saying that it happens a helluva lot more with German cars. Which is why you don't buy used.

It can be what it says but then again it could be just a Sales deal. I would think it depends on the actual Dealership on which you run into

Certified Used and Certified Pre-Owned aren't the same thing.

Every Nissan I have owned has been horrible. Every Honda I have owned has been horrible. Toyota makes the most reliable Japanese car, so that explains a lot. I dont base reliability on the country, I base it on the make/ model. Every company has had a lemon come out. Look at the early issues with the FRS for example.

There are a lot of German cars with great track records. There are a lot of Japanese with bad. It all depends on the model and the owner.

Tanuki, you can't argue with years of reliability reports either. Typically (and your right not every Japanese car is bulletproof, nor is every German car going to fall apart at 60K miles) Japanese cars are just more reliable. And having owned three German cars and a host of Japanese cars, the part you are omitting is cost of ownership and repair. German cars typically cost a lot more in terms of both parts and labor costs. And they typically cost a lot more to maintain over the life of the car, especially if you go to the dealer.

My own experience has been spot on with Consumer Reports. My Japanese cars have been very cheap to maintain and are more reliable and my German cars have been more expensive and tend to need more repairs.

I once checked out a CPO Honda CRZ and found out it mad a major frontal collision. I pointed out that the front core support was cracked and the radiator mount was bent to the sales person and he just said, that can't be true, this car is like new and went through Honda's rigorous multi-inspection program." I just scoffed and walked out.

Plus someone has to play devils advocate. There are "needs" cars and "wants" cars. Typically people buying a BMW don't need a car, but want a BMW. So they don't really mind paying more to Own them. That being said, the recent generation of BMW has done extremely well in the reliability department, as well as fuel economy.

Our diesel cars get 45mpg.

Now, I was talking with my uncle who works at a dealership (Lexus I think). He said they have a couple of Audis but can't sell them as certified used because they are not Lexus cars. Is BMW the same way?

Dodge's CPO program is actually pretty good, additional warranty that comes pretty much free.
